Tensions have flared between two prominent conservative personalities as they take opposing stands on President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker peace with Iran.
The escalating dispute exposes deeper ideological divides within conservative media regarding America’s approach to the Middle East.
Tucker Carlson, known for his anti-war views, recently slammed Fox News reporter and former colleague Mark Levin for lobbying against Trump’s diplomatic overtures toward Tehran.
Levin met with Trump and Steve Witkoff, the president’s Middle East envoy, to express strong opposition to any deal with the Islamic Republic.
Levin’s hawkish position has often been broadcast on his Fox show, where he has criticized Trump’s attempts to negotiate.
Carlson took to social media to condemn Levin’s actions, writing, “Mark Levin was at the White House today, lobbying for war with Iran. To be clear, Levin has no plans to fight in this or any other war. He’s demanding that American troops do it.”
Carlson warned that Levin’s focus on Iran’s nuclear program is a dangerous distraction from the risks of re-engaging in Middle East conflicts.
“A war with Iran would amount to a profound betrayal of his supporters. It would end his presidency. That may explain why so many of Trump’s enemies are advocating for it,” Carlson added.
Levin fired back after a Politico story detailed his White House meeting, dismissing the outlet as “a propaganda” arm of the mainstream media.
He insisted he is not leading a campaign of hawks but standing firm on Iran policy, and emphasized his close friendship with Trump.
He also accused a faction within conservative circles—including Carlson—of leaking details about his visit to undermine Trump’s efforts.
“I know who the leakers are,” Levin said. “It’s the isolationists who are doing it… they’re making his job 1,000 times more difficult.”
The dispute took a sensitive turn when Levin, who is Jewish, criticized the use of the word “neoconservative,” calling it a coded antisemitic insult.
“By the way, neocon is a pejorative for Jew. Unbelievable,” he remarked.
Carlson, speaking to the Daily Mail, rejected the antisemitism accusations against Levin and expressed admiration for Witkoff, describing him as someone “with the hand of God on him.”
Witkoff, also Jewish, is one of Trump’s advisers who favors pursuing peace, according to Trending Politics.
Levin struck back on his radio show, calling Carlson a “schmuck” who should have contacted him before going public.
He further elaborated on the term “neoconservative,” describing many neocons as “old-time, left-wing, Democrat Jews” and accused critics of using the label to mask antisemitism.
“Do whatever you want, it’s perfectly fine by me. But don’t screw with me, you little bastard, by twisting my words,” Levin stated.
Adding to the discord, Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch and his New York Post have cast doubt on Iran’s sincerity in nuclear negotiations, publishing opinion pieces skeptical of the regime’s intentions.
The public disagreement between the former colleagues highlights ongoing divisions within conservative media over Trump’s Middle East policy and broader U.S. involvement in global affairs.
