The reason leftists often resort to insults or going after people personally when trying to prove a lacking point is because they don’t have facts or logic on their side. So, when Simone Biles decided to go after Riley Gaines because of her dedication to the integrity of women’s sports, that didn’t go over too well for her.
Subsequently, Biles may or may not have hired a PR firm for damage control after saying things that are actually more unpopular than she imagined. In this public statement, she somewhat apologized to Gaines, while also still trying to play both sides.
According to The Post Millennial:
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles apologized on Tuesday after she criticized former University of Kentucky swimmer and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines over the weekend for speaking out against a Minnesota high school softball team, which included a trans-identified male player, that won the state championships.
Biles had responded to a tweet on Friday from Gaines, in which the former collegiate swimmer noted that comments on a photo of the winning team, which included the biological boy, had been disabled. Biles replied, “All of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!!”
In a separate post, Biles wrote, “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male,” sparking backlash.
I don’t have to tell you why Biles was on the wrong side here but it’s rather telling how she compared Gaines to a man, while also advocating for men to compete against women in female sports, while also calling her a sore loser. Nonetheless, the backlash was even more telling for Biles, which is why she was forced to issue her apology.
So, while Biles claims she’s all in it for the fairness of women’s sports, she has yet to adequately prove that. And as Gaines said, we can only hope she starts to “fight to support fair sports and a future for female athletes” because “little girls deserve the same shot to achieve that you had.”
