For the past year or so I’ve been getting leg cramps (shins and thigh — both legs). Most often at night, but sometimes during the day, and suddenly and completely out of the blue. . Maybe 2 -3 times a week. Sometimes I even get cramps in my hands. Sometimes the pain is tolerable, most other times it hurts like hell. I’m posting this because I suspect some of you TPBers also have this problem.
The saving grace … if one can call it that … is that the cramps are of short duration — just a minute, more or less..
I haven’t done much to “fix it”. Figured it was just the price of getting old … 72 revolutions around the sun. Been told to drink more water. OK. Eat more bananas. OK. Did both. Still getting cramps.
Just came across this vid today”3 foods to prevent leg cramps”, from someone named “path of the monk”. Nice calm dude. One thing I love about the vid? He’s NOT selling anything!!!
In case you don’t have time to watch, the 3 foods are; 1) avocado, 2) sweet potato, and (surprisingly) pumpkin seeds.
He says cramps are a Warning Signal from our body that something is very wrong. In this case a critical lack of potassium and magnesium. Eating these foods along with a small sprinkling of tahini, flax, turmeric or dark greens will cure the problem, if eaten every day. (He is strongly against taking pills as a cure.)
Is he correct> No idea. But it ‘s worth a try; doesn’t cost much and really has zero risk. Ask me in 45 days how I’m doing. And if you have any remedies of your own that have worked for you, feel free to share …. and thanks in advance.
