A Middle Eastern terror group’s leader has issued an open call for the assassination of President Donald Trump and several high-ranking U.S. officials and citizens in a newly released propaganda video.
Sa’ad bin Atef al-Awlaki, the current leader of al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), appeared in the 34-minute video titled “Inciting the Believers” on Sunday, calling for revenge over U.S. support for Israel in the ongoing war in Gaza.
The video, confirmed by national security sources, includes direct threats to the lives of Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other officials.
“Do not consult anyone about killing infidel Americans,” al-Awlaki says in the video, according to the New York Post. “Go after the scum of the earth and its greatest criminals.”
“These are Trump and his vice president, his advisor and his supporters in terms of finance, administration, and technology.”
Also named in the video are Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and billionnaire Elon Musk, according to officials who have reviewed the footage.
Al-Awlaki escalates his call by urging attacks on their families and any individuals affiliated with White House policy.
“Go after them and their families and all those who have any ties or are close to the politicians of the White House,” al-Awlaki says. “There are no red lines after all that has been happening to our people in Gaza.”
Al-Awlaki further calls for attacks against Jewish communities, blaming Israel and its allies for violence in Gaza.
“Do not leave a single safe place for Jews — just as they have not left any homes, shelters, or respite for the Palestinians,” he says. “Even hospitals are being bombed over the heads of the sick and wounded, and the heads of the women, children and the elderly. Take revenge.”
The video also praises individuals behind recent antisemitic terror attacks and prior attempts on Trump’s life. Al-Awlaki encourages viewers to replicate such actions.
Al-Awlaki took over as leader of AQAP in March 2024, according to The Post. The U.S. State Department has designated AQAP as a foreign terrorist organization.
A $6 million bounty remains on al-Awlaki’s head through the Rewards for Justice program due to previous incitements of violence against the U.S.
The Yemen-based terror group has a long history of attempted attacks on U.S. interests and remains one of the most active branches of al-Qa’ida.
Despite years of American counterterrorism operations in the region, AQAP continues to operate and release propaganda from strongholds in Yemen.
U.S. intelligence agencies are currently reviewing the video and assessing the credibility of threats made against individuals named in the footage.
Federal law enforcement is expected to coordinate with national security officials on protective measures and counter-extremism strategies.
Al-Awlaki’s message is the latest in a series of public calls for lone-wolf attacks by AQAP, which has increasingly used online platforms to incite radicalized individuals to violence.
Officials have not commented on whether additional security measures are being implemented in response.
