Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday evening that federal authorities have identified the suspect who violently assaulted a federal officer during anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles.
U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli named Elpidio Reyna as the individual captured on video allegedly hurling rocks at federal officers in Paramount, California.
The identification comes after an intensive FBI investigation that included a $50,000 cash reward for information leading to his arrest, Resist the Mainstream highlighted Monday.
The FBI had initially sought public assistance in locating the suspect, who stands accused of injuring a federal officer by throwing rocks at law enforcement vehicles.
Federal authorities consider Reyna armed and dangerous.
Bondi revealed the breakthrough during her appearance on “Hannity” Monday night, delivering the news directly to host Sean Hannity.
“The FBI has identified him,” Bondi stated.
“That guy has just been identified, and they are doing a search warrant on his house, as we speak.”
The Attorney General confirmed that Reyna will be placed on the Most Wanted list as federal authorities pursue charges against him.
“He has been identified by the great police work by the FBI,” Bondi continued during the television interview.
Bondi’s announcement comes as the Trump administration implements a comprehensive strategy to combat violence against law enforcement officers nationwide.
The Attorney General has made prosecuting attacks on federal officers a top priority since taking office.
The Hobbs Act, which Bondi referenced during her television appearance, provides federal prosecutors with powerful tools to combat organized criminal activity and violence.
Originally designed to target racketeering and extortion, the law has been expanded to cover various forms of criminal conduct that affect interstate commerce.
Legal experts note that federal charges typically carry harsher penalties than state-level prosecutions for similar offenses.
The incident in Paramount represents just one example of the violence that federal officers have faced during recent demonstrations.
Similar attacks have occurred in other cities, prompting calls for enhanced protection and stronger prosecution of offenders.
The Attorney General expanded her warning to include various criminal activities that federal authorities will prosecute.
“If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on police officers, we’re coming after you,” Bondi stated.
Federal prosecutors plan to utilize the Hobbs Act to pursue charges against looters and individuals throwing Molotov cocktails, according to Bondi’s statements on the program.
Looters in California face severe federal penalties under this approach, with Bondi noting they could receive maximum sentences of 20 years in prison.
Those who spit on federal law enforcement officers will also face significant prison time under the new enforcement strategy.
Bondi referenced President Trump’s position on such attacks against federal officers.
“As President Trump said: ‘You spit, we hit,’” Bondi quoted.
“Get ready. If you spit on a federal law enforcement officer, we are going to charge you with a crime federally. You are looking at up to five years maximum in prison.”
The rock-throwing incident occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Alondra Boulevard in Paramount, California.
The attack resulted in injuries to a federal officer and caused damage to government vehicles.
FBI officials released a wanted poster describing the suspect as armed and dangerous, urging the public to exercise caution and contact authorities with any information about his whereabouts.
FBI Director Kash Patel issued his own warning Saturday night, emphasizing the bureau’s commitment to protecting law enforcement officers.
“If you assault a law enforcement officer, you’re going to jail—period,” Patel declared.
Patel stressed that the FBI will not tolerate attacks on law enforcement regardless of the perpetrator’s background or claimed motivations.
“It doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what cause you claim to represent,” Patel told Fox News Digital.
