Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has
Compare this to what happened to former GOP Rep. George Santos, who was expelled from Congress by his own party—despite never being convicted of a crime at the time of his removal. Republicans jumped at the opportunity to oust one of their own, while Democrats once again circle the wagons to protect one of their most corrupt, race-baiting, and radical members.
FEC GUILTY VERDICT: Not a “Mistake,” Not “Alleged”
According to official filings, Waters’ 2020 campaign committee, Citizens for Waters, knowingly accepted excessive contributions, made illegal cash payments, and failed to accurately report receipts and disbursements in a timely manner. Specifically, the FEC accused this committee for Maxine Waters of failing to accurately report over $262,000 in receipts and $256,000 in disbursement, accepting $19,000 in excess contributions from seven individuals—where the limit was $2,800—and making prohibited cash disbursements totaling $7,000 beyond legal limits of $100 or less. The Waters camp blamed technology, COVID and staff for their errors.
The agreement also revealed that corrections to the financial reports were filed late, and refunds for the excessive donations were delayed well past the allowed timeframe. The FEC formally admonished the Waters campaign for untimely action and misreporting. Waters was ordered to pay a $68,000 fine.
Waters’ committee agreed to pay the civil fine as well as “send its treasurer to a Commission-sponsored training program for political committees within one year of the effective date of the Agreement.”
On April 29, 2025, the FEC accepted the signed conciliation agreement submitted on behalf of Citizens for Waters in settlement for these violations.
This isn’t just sloppy paperwork—it’s a federal violation, and it’s not the first time for Mad Max. Waters’s campaign has paid over $1.2 million to her daughter, Karen Waters, over the last few years for “slate mailer” services, a move that watchdogs have repeatedly flagged as unethical and exploitative.
As Dinesh D’Souza pointed out in a viral post on X, the disparity is staggering:
“Maxine Waters: Multiple federal election law violations. Penalty: $68K fine. Me: Exceeded campaign limit by $20K. Penalty: 8 months confinement, $25K fine, mandatory psychiatric counseling, 5-year probation.”
The message is clear: If you’re a Republican, you get prison. If you’re a Democrat, you get a slap on the wrist. This $68,000 fine feels more or less like a political victory and not like an actual deserved consequence.
After all, it appears that the committee’s Treasurer, David Gould, faces more punishment than Waters.
Waters’ Pattern of Radicalism and Lawlessness
This isn’t an isolated incident. Loomer Unleashed previously exposed Waters attending anti-Trump protests, standing shoulder to shoulder with activists waving “DIE TRUMP” signs—a chilling image that perfectly captures her political legacy of violence.

For decades, Waters has incited division, stoked hatred, demonstrated lawless behavior, and openly encouraged physical confrontation with Trump supporters.
During Trump’s first term in office, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was harassed and attacked at a restaurant at the behest of Maxine Waters.
Rep. Waters called for her party’s most violent, radical protesters to publicly confront Trump Cabinet members and federal employees to shame them over the Trump administration’s policies.
President Trump blasted Maxine Waters following this incident.

In February, Waters, alongside 30 House Democrats, accosted a security guard for doing his job, demanding his ID numerous times, while trying to force her way inside the Department of Education building that the guard was securing.
Maxine Waters’ Long History of Treating Campaign Funds Like a Family ATM
Rep. Maxine Waters’ abuse of campaign finances isn’t new—it’s part of a long, well-documented pattern of funneling political money to her inner circle and unpunished ethics violations. Dating back to the early 2000s, Waters has repeatedly used her campaign war chest to benefit family members and personal allies, turning Citizens for Waters into a financial vehicle for those closest to her.
In 2004, Waters came under fire for steering campaign payments to family members. Her husband, Sidney Williams, and children, Karen and Edward, have received hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years for supposed “campaign-related work”—raising serious ethical concerns.
One egregious example occurred in August 2008, when Citizens for Waters made an unsecured $25,000 loan to a nonprofit organization—African American Committee 2000 and Beyond—which was run by her daughter, Karen Waters. The stated purpose of the loan was to cover event costs at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. At the time, Maxine Waters served on the board of the same nonprofit, a glaring conflict of interest confirmed by her official financial disclosures.
David Gould, then-treasurer of Citizens for Waters, claimed the loan was necessary because the nonprofit “didn’t have enough finances to pay for all the expenses” related to their DNC programming. But, critics noted the loan violated basic ethical standards and raised legal questions about self-dealing and disclosure.
In 2010, Waters faced a House Ethics Committee investigation for abusing her position to lobby the Treasury Department on behalf of OneUnited Bank, a Black-owned institution where her husband held stock valued between $250,000 and $500,000. The meeting was supposed to address broader financial industry concerns. Instead, Waters arranged for OneUnited CEO Kevin Cohee to personally request $50 million in bailout funds. Meanwhile, the bank was dangerously undercapitalized and facing regulatory sanctions.
Waters’ involvement with Cohee dated back to at least 2002, when she intervened in a local Los Angeles development deal. After a white-owned Illinois bank won a bid in her district, Waters publicly pressured it to withdraw. This cleared the way for Cohee’s OneUnited to swoop in. The move nearly doubled OneUnited’s assets, and within two years, Cohee had appointed Waters’s husband to the board. This position required him to purchase significant stock in the bank.
Although OneUnited ultimately received only $12 million from the federal TARP bailout (rather than the $50 million it requested), the decision stunned financial analysts. The bank had been cited repeatedly by federal regulators—most notably in 2007 for failing to lend adequately to low-income communities in Miami. In 2008, the FDIC reprimanded OneUnited for lavish executive perks, including a Porsche SUV and a $6.4 million Santa Monica beachfront property for CEO Cohee.
Despite an extensive history of scandal and self-dealing, Maxine Waters has avoided facing any real consequences.
Since May 2025, when her campaign was officially found guilty by the FEC for multiple campaign finance violations, Maxine has remained virtually unscathed. The Democrat Party and corporate media remain silent, as if nothing ever happened. Rep. Maxine Waters still faces no real consequences or any new House Ethics Committee Investigations. In addition to not facing any consequences, Waters continues to encourage acts of political violence. On Sunday, she was photographed outside of the federal detention center in Los Angeles trying to break inside to support illegals, and she was also caught on video screaming at the National Guard upon their arrival in Los Angeles.
Double Standard For Democrats
Even more outrageous than Democrat hypocrisy is the total inaction by House Republicans. Despite holding the majority and regaining the White House with President Trump’s 2024 victory, the GOP leadership continues to shrink away from accountability battles that matter.
Back in December 2023, 105 House Republicans joined nearly every Democrat to expel MAGA-aligned Rep. George Santos from Congress—before he had been convicted of any crime. The justification? An ethics report and pending indictments. Santos was expelled without a trial, a legal verdict, or due process.
Due process is often denied to Conservative Trump supporters, but Congressional Democrats are now demanding for criminal illegal invaders facing federal deportation to receive due process. Santos later pleaded guilty and was sentenced in April 2025 to over seven years in prison. However, at the time of his expulsion, he was presumed innocent under the law.
Meanwhile, Rep. Maxine Waters has now been found guilty by the FEC for violating multiple federal election laws. This is not speculation. It is not pending. It is a formal finding. Add to that her decades-long history of abusing her public office—using campaign funds to enrich family members, steering taxpayer dollars to banks tied to her husband, and aligning with radical, anti-Trump extremists—and the contrast becomes indefensible.
Where Is the GOP?
Even Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW)—a left-leaning watchdog group, and partner of the Democracy Alliance, once named Maxine Waters as the one of the “Most Corrupt Members of Congress.”
CREW was one of the groups behind the effort to remove Donald Trump from the 2024 Presidential Ballot by using the defunct legal theory under the 14point3 campaign. Yet, despite years of ethics controversies and a recent guilty finding by the FEC, Waters remains politically untouchable. There has yet to be a censure. No investigation. No vote to expel.
Meanwhile, Rep. George Santos was ousted by his own party prior to a single conviction—highlighting a stark and undeniable double standard in political accountability depending on your political affiliation.
Why hasn’t Speaker Mike Johnson introduced a resolution to hold Waters accountable? Why isn’t the House Ethics Committee opening an inquiry? Also, why is the GOP silent?
The answer is obvious: weak leadership and political cowardice. The Republican establishment is more terrified of bad press than it is committed to enforcing the rule of law. And the Democrats? They know it. They know they can break the rules—and get away with it. Because they always do. And because the GOP lets them get away with it. Maxine Waters has officially been found guilty of violating multiple federal election laws. If George Santos had to be removed from Congress over his campaign finance violations, Waters should also be removed. The question is—does anyone in the GOP have the spine to take action?
