Conservative commentator and former Trump White House official Steve Bannon is calling on President Donald Trump to deport tech mogul Elon Musk.
Bannon’s comments come after Musk and Trump traded barbs on social media.
The tech mogul expressed strong disappointment over the president’s support for the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which Musk claimed would increment the federal U.S. deficit.
Musk even went as far as to call for Trump’s impeachment for supporting the bill, as Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
Musk, who was born in South Africa, is now facing criticism from Republicans, including Trump himself.
Bannon called on the president to investigate the X CEO’s immigration status and “immediately” deport him, per the New York Post.
“They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status, because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately,” Bannon told the New York Times.
Bannon also called on the Trump administration to investigate Musk’s alleged drug use as well as claims that the tech mogul tried to get his hands on a classified Pentagon briefing about China, per the Post.
The fallout between Trump and Musk occurred days after the X CEO’s tenure as a “special government employee,” during which he served as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
As previously stated, the feud stemmed from Musk’s opposition to the legislation, which the president fully supports and has for months.
The bill was passed by the House in a razor-thin margin last month: 215-214.
Musk argued that the legislation would increase the U.S. debt.
“This spending bill contains the largest increase in the debt ceiling in US history! It is the Debt Slavery Bill,” Musk said on Wednesday.
The X CEO also urged his followers to call their representatives and advise them to “kill” the spending bill.
“Call your Senator, Call your Congressman, Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL,” he wrote.
During a meeting in the Oval Office, Trump addressed Musk’s comments about him, saying he was “disappointed.”
“I would have won Pennsylvania regardless of Elon…I’m very disappointed with Elon. He knew this bill better than anyone and he only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV mandate…” the president said.
Musk quickly fired back.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” he said.
On Truth Social, the president intensified his feud with Musk, saying that the “easiest” way to save money would be to cut Musk’s government contracts and subsidies.
“The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!” he wrote.
In response, Musk said that SpaceX would begin decommissioning its “Dragon spacecraft.”
