RIVERVIEW, FL – A man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting incident that unfolded last Friday near Progress Boulevard. The accused, Dijon Clark, made his first court appearance today, facing serious allegations tied to the tragic event.
Authorities from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the victim, identified as 24-year-old Terrell Ferrell, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a woman. The car also carried a young child in the back seat. The situation escalated when the driver stopped to converse with Clark near the intersection of Progress Boulevard and South 82nd Street. It was at this moment, deputies allege, that Clark opened fire on the vehicle.
The specific details of the exchange between the driver and Clark remain unclear. However, detectives report that, in an attempt to flee the gunfire, the driver inadvertently struck a motorized bicycle. Fortunately, the bicyclist only sustained minor injuries. The driver managed to reach a nearby Thornton’s convenience store in Riverview, where she called for help.
Law enforcement apprehended Clark the following day. He appeared virtually for his initial court hearing, during which he was formally charged with murder, shooting into a vehicle, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Clark’s attorney has filed a motion for a pre-trial detention hearing, which the judge scheduled for Thursday morning.
Despite the arrest, many questions linger, particularly concerning the nature of the relationship, if any, between Clark and the victims. Investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, seeking clarity on what may have provoked the violent encounter.
