Every May, Baltimore transforms into the epicenter of defense cybersecurity as it hosts the highly anticipated AFCEA TechNet conference. This year, despite a leaner speaker lineup compared to past events, attendance was strong — including Carley Welch, our dedicated networks and cybersecurity reporter.
The conference’s biggest highlight came from an exclusive one-on-one interview between Welch and Katie Arrington, who at the time was performing the duties of the DoD CIO. During their conversation, Arrington shared bold plans to overhaul the Department of Defense’s approach to software acquisition and discussed strategies to safeguard the designs of America’s next-generation fighter jet, the F-47, from cyber threats and potential theft by adversaries like China. In this eBook, you’ll also find a collection of stories covering key insights into DISA’s latest priorities, developments in offensive cyber operations, and an update on the next steps for the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) initiative.
