Where his nomination is concerned, President Joe Biden’s goose may not yet be cooked according to a readily denied report about accelerating the process.
On their way to frame Republicans as disjointed and lacking party unity, Democrats appeared to have exposed their own disarray as a schism over keeping the octogenarian incumbent in the race was defined. Between corporate media outlets calling for him to step aside and rumors of wannabe successors building coalitions to seize the opportunity, a report from Bloomberg detailed how, weeks ahead of the Democratic National Convention, a virtual nomination was planned.
Suggested as a means to “stamp out intra-party chatter of replacing him after last week’s poor debate performance,” Bloomberg explained concerning a July 21st virtual nomination how, “The DNC already altered its rules to allow a change to convention and voting procedures, including a possible roll-call vote ‘before the delegates have convened in-person in Chicago.’”
The timing, almost a month prior to the start of the Chicago convention on Aug. 19, was also associated with former President Donald Trump’s own formal nomination and upcoming sentencing hearing, “The July 21 date would come 10 days after Trump’s sentencing in Manhattan for his felony conviction for trying to conceal hush money payments to hide an alleged affair with an adult film star ahead of the 2016 election. And it would happen just three days after Trump is scheduled to accept his party’s nomination at the Republican convention in Milwaukee.”
On X, Bloomberg News senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs, who also reported on supporters waving signs asking Biden to drop out Saturday, shared the report and wrote in part, “DEMOCRATS WEIGH EARLY BIDEN NOMINATION TO SQUASH TALKS OF A SWAP…”
The post drew a reaction from DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin who readily denied the report, “This is false. We’ve said for weeks that the DNC would hold a virtual roll call in the lead-up to our in-person convention as a result of the OH GOP’s bad-faith attempts to keep Joe Biden off of their general election ballot. This is not new, as you note in your own reporting.”

Boeglin went on to cite the mention of an Aug. 7 deadline in Ohio to certify candidates but neglected to mention how that deadline had since been pushed back, negating the need for the early nomination in the process that, at this stage, the DNC maintained authority to change their own rules over.
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison also clapped back at the report, going so far as to accuse Bloomberg reporters Gregory Korte and Mario Parker of being liars.
“Are you reporting the news or trying to create it?! This is a lie! See your own reporting,” he captioned a side-by-side of a May report from Bloomberg that mentioned the Ohio deadline beside a GIF that said, “THE LIES! THE LIES!”

On May 28, Harrison stated, “Through a virtual roll call, we will ensure that Republicans — despite their best efforts — can’t chip away at our democracy and that Ohioans can freely exercise their right to vote.”
Meanwhile, as many suggested former President Barack Obama maintained control of the helm while also harboring disfavor for the Bidens, Craft Ventures co-founder David Sacks snarked, “The Bidens worked too hard to rig the Democratic primaries to let the Obamas undo it all by rigging the Convention.”
