Things appeared to get worse for Alex Jones as a U.S. bankruptcy trustee announced on Sunday that Infowars will be shut down and liquidated to help pay off the $1.5 billion lawsuit filed against him for claiming that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax. However, Jones insists that there is more to the story.
The announcement, made by trustee Christopher Murray after the filing of an “emergency” motion in Houston, said that he would “wind-up” operations for Free Speech Systems (FSS), the parent company of Infowars, and “liquidate its inventory” to pay the fees owed to the families of the Sandy Hook victims.
Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, two of the parents suing Jones, wanted the court to allow them to seize the assets from FSS, but Murray asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez to block the motion from occurring, stating that it could be disastrous for the company.
“The specter of a pell-mell seizure of FSS’s assets, including its cash, threatens to throw the business into chaos, potentially stopping it in its tracks,” Murray wrote. “The Trustee seeks this Court’s intervention to prevent a value-destructive money grab and allow an orderly process to take its course.”
Currently, Jones has about $9 million in personal assets, $6 million in cash, and about $1.2 million in inventory, which pales in comparison to the massive amount he still owes. He filed for bankruptcy in 2022.
It may appear as a win for those on the left who have tried to get him taken off the air, but Jones has declared that he is not out. The right-wing host has been preparing in case he loses Infowars, which has millions of viewers.
“This is probably the end of Infowars here very, very soon. If not today, in the next few weeks or months,” he told reporters shortly before his June 7 hearing. “But it’s just the beginning of my fight against tyranny.”
Jones assured his fans that he would still find a way to broadcast. On the June 4 broadcast of his show, he told his viewers that he would rather “work for free” and broadcast than be “silenced.”
He posted a video on social media Monday after the news broke, telling his viewers that the media is “not giving the full story,” declaring that his losing Infowars is another lie propelled by his critics.
He also told everyone to “sit back and watch” for the next few weeks, that “Infowars is hard to kill,” and that he “is hard to shut down.”
He also explained that Infowars is “just a building” and that he can “work from anywhere,” meaning that he will not stop due to not having his equipment and staff.
Jones still encourages his viewers to help support his “future” by purchasing items from DrJonesNaturals, which would allow him to continue broadcasting.
Jones has stated that the left has had it out for him, trying to take away his First Amendment rights because of his ideology and his unwillingness to back down.
