The big debate between Trump and Joe Biden will take place next Thursday.
As a precursor to the debate, CNN conducted a coin flip to determine who would be given the stage position or speaking slot.
Biden won the coin flip and, for some reason, chose to take the podium position over the right to speak last.
I Like the Call
I honestly would have thought that Biden would have jumped at the opportunity to speak last, but he instead chose the stage left podium, which will be the right-side podium on the viewing screen.
This allowed Trump to decide if he wanted to have the first or second closing argument.
Smartly, Trump chose to have the last word.
I am sure there is some reason that Biden took the podium over speaking, but this just does not make sense to me.
Meanwhile, even though Trump has some gag orders to deal with, he will be able to leave voters with the last impression, which I believe will be far more important than having the podium closest to the cameras.
I actually think that could work against Biden, as viewers are going to get to see him squirm throughout this debate, especially if he starts to wear down.
But since Biden is taking a full week off to recharge his batteries, I expect a decent performance from him.
I won’t say that Biden really impressed anyone in 2020, but he did far better than most expected based on what we had seen of him to that point.
However, this time, Biden is actually working for a living, or supposed to be, so at some point, I expect to see the puppet surface.
The key for Trump is to get under Biden’s skin, and the most likely way to do that is by attacking Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s enabling of Hunter’s behavior.
All those questions will be answered soon enough.
