A report at the Gateway Pundit describes how the statutory Secret Service protection for a former vice president like Kamala Harris extends for six months after leaving office.
Joe Biden had put the taxpayers on the hook for paying for an extra year of those expenses.
Now they’re canceled.
The report explains, “President Trump struck another blow against his 2024 Presidential rival, even as she considers another desperate bid for the presidency. As CNN reported, Trump revoked Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection on Thursday.”
Federal law provides six months of tax-funded protections for her after she left office, and that ended on July 21, but Biden, before leaving office, had granted her an additional year of tax support.
CNN said the reasons for Biden’s decision were “undisclosed.”
The Gateway Pundit charged, “How unsurprising that Biden and his handlers would make a mockery of the law once again.
CNN obtained the new instructions that detail, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris,”
The letter noted the agents now will disappear and she will lose as well services that include an “analysis of threat intelligence and covering in-person situations, emails, texts and social media.”
The change comes just has Harris is launching a tour promoting herself and a book.
Harris’ office said, “The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”
