For at least the past two decades, progressive billionaire George Soros has been financially linked to countless leftist groups that push radical agendas and support protest movements, some of which become violent, that serve to counter and undermine American society.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump called for Soros and his son, Alex, to be criminally charged under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO, which is typically used to combat organized crime organizations, according to Breitbart.
Democrats and the media erupted in predictable outrage in defense of Soros in reaction to Trump’s demand, but there is ample evidence that connects Soros and the multitude of groups he funds to violent protests and riots over the past decade.
Trump demands RICO charges for Soros
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning, President Trump wrote, “George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.”
“We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE,” he continued.
“Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends,” Trump added. “Be careful, we’re watching you!”
Linked to anti-Israel, anti-police, and anti-Trump protests and riots
Since at least the mid-2000s, George Soros and his Open Society Foundations, an umbrella organization that distributes billions in grants to countless smaller groups, have used his immense wealth to financially support not just the Democratic Party but also many radical leftist and progressive outfits, some of which foment disruptive and violent protests and riots.
Most recently, the New York Post reported in 2023 on at least $15 million in funding for pro-Palestine, pro-Hamas, and anti-Israel protest groups that wreaked antisemitic havoc and destruction in cities and college campuses across America in reaction to Israel’s justified invasion of Gaza as a response to Hamas’ murderous October 7 wave of terror attacks and kidnappings of innocent men, women, and children in southern Israel.
Much of that money was funneled from the Open Society Foundations through the Tides Center and further disbursed in grants to various nonprofits and advocacy groups, who in turn funded the anti-Israel protests, some of which devolved into harassment and violence against Jews as well as clashes with law enforcement.
The same story emerged in 2020, according to PJ Media at that time, when Soros and his Foundation were linked to many of the leftist activist groups involved in fomenting the anti-police protests and riots that erupted nationwide following the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Likewise, USA Today reported in 2016 that financial connections were established between Soros and the radical groups protesting, sometimes violently, against then-President-elect Trump and his incoming administration.
Time for some accountability
To be sure, virtually every time that Soros and his wealth are linked to radical leftist advocacy groups, protest movements, and violent riots, Democrats and the mainstream media are quick to try to debunk the claims, change the narrative, and hold the wealthy progressive philanthropist blameless.
Yet, as the USA Today article acknowledged, the Open Society Foundations even admitted amid its denial of any direct involvement that — wink, wink — it was possible that some of the many organizations it funds may have been involved in financing the disruptive protests and violent riots.
The elderly Soros, along with his heir and named successor Alex, are indeed responsible for funding protests and riots over the past couple of decades, and President Trump is right to demand that they and their radical leftist progressive associates be held accountable for the violence and destruction they’ve financed and fomented.
