There are families grieving in Minneapolis, but the left – including the mayor, the media, and political activists – have all decided that the real victims of the Annunciation Church and School shooting are not the dead children. It’s the transgender community.
The Norm McDonald joke is happening right before our eyes. “Two young children who were in church were killed? Just think about the impact on transgender people!” This was essentially the message of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as he took to the cameras. Well, first he told everyone that their prayers were useless, because kids were just shot while praying.

Joining in the dumping on the concept of prayer was Jen Psaki, who posted her hot takes on X.
Police responded to the ghastly scene at the school shortly before 8:27 a.m. local time. After the dust settled, authorities revealed that two children died and 17 people were injured during the attack. Less than three hours later, Psaki, the Democratic flack-turned-de facto-Democratic flack, was doing the only thing she knows how to.
“Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers,” she tweeted initially.
But Psaki wasn’t done yet.
“When kids are getting shot in their pews at a catholic school mass and your crime plan is to have national guard put mulch down around DC maybe rethink your strategy,” she suggested next.
Well, then details began to trickle out. The shooter was identified as a 23 year old biological male who had “transitioned” to female well over five years ago, as court documents covering a name change showed. We also know that the shooter’s mother was a retired employee of the school, and that he was likely a former student there himself. And then there were the videos – hastily removed from YouTube, but not before others recorded them and took screenshots – and the suicide note/manifesto. This person was a psychopath, sick and twisted. The messages scrawled all over his firearms were deliberate and vicious, loaded with meaning. The suicide note even acknowledges that he is “selfish,” and will harm innocent people in his quest to kill himself, and while he expresses his regret that his family will suffer, he no longer cared enough to stop. He was, in a word, psychotic. He attacked the church by firing randomly through the windows, and then entered the church and killed himself, as he had planned. An 8 year old and a 10 year old were killed, and multiple people were wounded. Thankfully, everyone who was wounded in the shooting is expected to survive, and surviving victims have begun to be identified.
But as soon as those details began to circulate about the shooter’s transgender identity, Mayor Jacob Frey immediately ran in front of the cameras to demand that people be nice and loving.
“I have heard about a whole lot of hate that’s being directed at our trans community,” Frey told reporters at an update presser Wednesday afternoon.
“Anybody who is using this … as an opportunity to villainize our trans community, or any other community out there, has lost their sense of common humanity. We should not be operating out of a place of hate for anyone,” the mayor said.
Frey stated emotionally that instead of the shooter’s gender-identity and state of mind, public focus should be put on the child victims —- and then he segued into calls for gun control.
Never mind that the shooter was consumed by hatred – for himself, and for pretty much everything around him. The transgender community cannot be blamed, says the mayor! The truth doesn’t fit the narrative, so it requires a PIVOT! to gun control. And because Jacob Frey is running for re-election, and there were cameras everywhere, he kept repeating this.

But the worst was yet to come, with the unholy union of Mayor Jacob Frey with… Jen Psaki. The sanctimonious lecturing by Psaki on gun control on her own show was followed by Frey’s sanctimonous lecturing about how the transgender community, the Catholic church, and pretty much everyone in the world but the shooter is like Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree – “maybe it just needs a little love.”
PSAKI: I have been thinking about them as my own all day, as I know many people watching have been thinking about them as their own.
It’s so fresh here. It’s just happened this morning. And I — there’s already been sort of some effort, which I think is so sick and disgusting, to weaponize some of the details, even if we don’t know a lot at this point in time.
And, obviously, the law enforcement in your city have been keeping people abreast, including details about the individual possibly being trans, about the individual possibly having negative things to say about Trump, about some things that have been on the weapons. A lot of this is just very early reporting.
What do you do as a leader of your city to prevent details from being weaponized and using this to blame something other than the guns?
Take note of that last line of Psaki’s. The guns, and ONLY the guns, will be blamed in her world. Never mind that the guns were coated in vile word vomit that told us quite a lot about the psycho wielding them – that’s just a “weaponized detail” to Jen Psaki. The truth is an inconvenience to the narrative.
FREY: First off, anybody who is using this as an opportunity to villainize trans people has completely lost touch with a common humanity.
Operate not off of hate for any community. Operate off of love for our kids. Kids died today. This should be about protecting our children. This should be about loving our children. And far too often, I feel like people will think of the conclusion that they want to get to, and then they will, like, reverse-manufacture the facts that they want to hear to get to that end point.
We should be standing up for our Catholic community, by the way, right now, because this is a Catholic Church. We should be standing up for kids and churches and schools and all that. Let’s love each other. The antidote to hate is not more hate. The antidote to hate and cowardice, which clearly this shooter had, is not more hate. Hurt people hurt people.
The antidote is love. The antidote is standing up for our neighbor no matter who they are. That’s where we need to get to right now. And so, no, this whole effort to villainize a community, this was not about a community that did this. A community didn’t do this. A person did this.
And that was a horrific act. And we should all be staying that out loud. And we should all be loving each other more.
“A person did this.” This person didn’t need to be “loved more” or any such nonsense. This person was severely mentally deranged, and the transgender identity is now being used as a shield by the left in order to deflect blame somewhere else. By all accounts, and the shooter’s own suicide note, his family was loving and supportive. How did they not know what was happening? Love would not have fixed this. Gun control would not have fixed this – the shooter had no prior criminal record and purchased the firearms legally. What law could have stopped him? Minnesota has “red flag” laws, but they only work when someone is willing to speak up. This is why Frey and Psaki, among others, are determined to make the transgender community the protected victim. The blame cannot be placed on the transgender shooter (or any of the other recent trans shooters), because that would suggest that something is mentally wrong with the killers that can’t be fixed with “more love.” And the left has drifted so far left and is so in thrall to gender ideology that they cannot back down now. Transgender issues are a black hole for the Democrats – they are being drawn toward it, and they will be crushed by it. And they will not stop.
Meanwhile, two innocent children are dead because of this crazed monster. In their race to defend the transgender community and crap on people of faith, the left seems to have forgotten that.
It’s not just wrong, but cruel to tell people of faith that their prayers ring hollow amid a tragedy like this.
There are parents in Minneapolis tonight who are likely praying harder for comfort than they’ve ever prayed in their lives. They’re never going to be the same. pic.twitter.com/o4KhlwIZ3O

Pray for the broken hearts and bodies that need healing. Pray for the families who have been ripped apart, never to be made whole again. Pray for this church, as they try to pick up the pieces.
