Yet again we see it: leftism leads to derangement and violence.

The young man who opened fire at a morning mass at Annunciation Catholic Church School in Minneapolis, murdering two children and injuring at least seventeen others, on Wednesday morning has been identified as Robin Westman, a walking poster child for the psychological and social hazards of leftism. Like so many leftists, Westman hated Donald Trump, Israel and Jews, and God himself, and was a man who believed that he was a woman. And like an increasing number of leftists, Westman ultimately turned to violence and embraced unimaginable evil. Yes, there is a pattern, and yes, it’s time we noticed.
The popular Libs of TikTok X account pointed out one part of the pattern: “Minnesota Church Shooting: Trans. Republican Party Firebombing: Gender Fluid. Nashville Shooter: Trans. Colorado Tesla Arsonist: Trans. Colorado Springs shooter: Nonbinary. Aberdeen shooter: Trans. Denver school shooter: Trans. Iowa school shooter: Trans/genderfluid. AMC stabber: Trans. Are you starting to see a pattern here? IT’S AN EPIDEMIC.”
And yes, there is no doubt that if you’re at war with reality to the extent that you’re a man who will insist he is a woman, or a woman who insists she is a man, you are likely harboring a rage against the natural order of things, and the creator of that order, that can all too easily spill over into an overpowering desire to destroy what that creator has made.
In the case of Robin Westman, there is more as well. He seems to have posted “a disturbing video” that “shows ‘kill Donald Trump’ and ‘for the children’ scrawled on gun magazines.” On other magazines, he (or someone) wrote “Where is your God?” and “F**k everything that you stand for.”
That’s a neat summation of what the left stands for in the late summer of 2025. Leftism, in its all-consuming desire to destroy Western civilization and the United States as the foremost contemporary exponent of that civilization, has worked hard to indoctrinate a generation (and more) of American children with hatred for their own homeland and heritage, and contempt for the “racist slaveowners” who founded this nation.
Contempt for Christianity has been an integral part of this miseducation program, which has gone on in the popular culture as much as it has in the classroom. Going back to Martin Scorsese’s execrable 1991 remake of the thriller Cape Fear and beyond that, cinematic portrayals of Christians have almost always portrayed them as either cruel psychopaths or ineffectual fools, while wise, knowing characters are invariably people whose morality or outlook contradicts Christian teaching.
The demonization of Donald Trump is a more recent phenomenon, beginning only when he first announced his candidacy for president in 2015, but it has been no less virulent and relentless. Then there is Israel, the unjustly maligned recipient of the world’s condemnation ever since Barack Obama began bringing U.S. policy toward the Jewish state in line with the perspectives of the international left.
Robin Westman, like so many other young men, imbibed all of this, and it is likely that those around him never gave it all a second thought, or realized that anything was amiss. He was merely reflecting the views of the majority, the views that people in authority everywhere and the leading lights of the culture assure us are the views of the enlightened, the awake (“woke”), the aware, the discerning, the thoughtful, the intelligent, as opposed to the views of the racist redneck yahoos who want to destroy all the gains we’ve made as a society and take us back to the dark ages.
Meanwhile, leftist leaders have been increasingly open about the need to be rough with those redneck yahoos. “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption — but I am now,” said far-left Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker back in April. “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.” That was after Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-Victimhood) said in February: “This will be a congressional fight, a constitutional fight, a legal fight, and on days like this a street fight, yes we will stand.” And that was not long after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-Hey, I’m a Victim Too) said this of the “extreme MAGA Republican agenda”: “We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets.”
Before them, it was Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and Kamala Harris inciting leftist violence. And let’s not forget Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-Grillmaster) saying in 2020, when condemning the pro-life leanings of Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh: “I want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price.”
Leftists outside of politics joined in the fun as well: remember, to take just a few of many available examples, Kathy Griffin holding Trump’s bloody severed head, or Madonna saying she wanted to blow up the White House, or Robert DeNiro bellowing that he wanted to punch Trump in the face.
Robin Westman is the man they have made. At Annunciation Church on Wednesday morning, we saw where leftism leads.
