The “Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report” in the third full week of August 2025 has for northwest regional and national radio listeners and website followers a report on a federal law enforcement identified foreign national whose criminal case for drug trafficking and firearm charges were adjudicated in a U.S. District Court in the state of Oregon.
Some background information, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon (USAODO), issued a news release titled “Honduran National Unlawfully Residing in Oregon Sentenced to Federal Prison for Trafficking Fentanyl in Portland and San Francisco” who the subject of interest was Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada (U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon Court Case Number: 3:23-CR-00278-IM).
Here is an extended excerpt from USAODO’s August 5, 2025 news release Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada:
“PORTLAND, Ore.— Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada, 22, a Honduran national unlawfully residing in Oregon, was sentenced Monday to 70 months in federal prison and three years’ supervised release for trafficking fentanyl in downtown Portland and San Francisco, California.
According to court documents, on August 9, 2023, as part of a fentanyl enforcement mission targeting fentanyl dealers in downtown Portland, officers observed Izaguirre-Estrada holding what appeared to be blue fentanyl pills in his hand. The officers arrested Izaguirre-Estrada and seized a loaded firearm, more than 6,000 fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and cash.
On August 16, 2023, a federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment charging Izaguirre-Estrada with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and alien in possession of a firearm.
On September 26, 2023, a federal grand jury in the Northern District of California returned a two-count indictment charging Izaguirre-Estrada with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, based on a prior arrest in April 2023.
On April 30, 2025, Izaguirre-Estrada pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, resolving both of his criminal cases.
This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HITDA) Interdiction Team (HIT), the PPB Central Precinct Neighborhood Response Team and PPB Bike Squad.” – U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon
As courtesy and for informational purposes the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” sent via e-mail on August 6, 2025 a copy of the USAODO press release on Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Public Affairs for the Northwest Region which encompasses the states of Alaska, Oregon and Washington, furthermore, ICE Public Affairs in Washington, D.C.
At this time there is no indication or explanation of why ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has not issued a separate press release communicating support for the federal law enforcement agency’s lead role in the take down of now convicted and sentenced drug trafficker Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada.
On Monday, August 18, 2025 Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada (BOP Register Number: 72746-510) was incarcerated by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at Sheridan FCI located in Sheridan, Oregon.
Now that Ermin Izaguirre-Estrada is in the custody of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) he has joined more than 25-thousand criminal aliens incarcerated in the BOP prison system.
