CORAL SPRINGS, FL – In a chilling turn of events, a woman was discovered lifeless in a canal, and her husband is now in custody facing domestic violence charges. The unfolding drama began when authorities found the body of Jessica Lloyd floating near her Coral Springs residence on Monday night.
Her husband, Jeffrey Evans, has been arrested for domestic violence, specifically simple battery. This arrest followed closely on the heels of the grim discovery. The incident took place in the vicinity of the 9900 block of Northwest 15th Court. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Lloyd was pronounced dead.
The Coral Springs Police Department has launched a comprehensive investigation into her death. According to reports, prior to the discovery, Evans contacted the police, claiming his wife was experiencing a mental health crisis and requested their assistance. Mere minutes later, a neighbor’s 911 call painted a different picture, capturing the terrifying moment when he reported hearing a woman’s desperate cries, “my husband is trying to kill me.”
Upon arrival, officers found Lloyd’s body in the canal. Evans, 43, was subsequently taken into custody for domestic violence following an interview with the police. However, no further charges have been filed against him regarding his wife’s death.
As the investigation continues, Evans has been released on a $1,000 bond. However, he is subject to stringent conditions, including wearing an ankle monitor and surrendering his passport. He must also remain within Broward County until further notice.
This tragic case has cast a spotlight on the turbulent nature of the couple’s marriage, as friends and family grapple with the unfolding revelations. The community remains on edge as they await more answers from the ongoing investigation.
