President Trump fired Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook with cause due to the recent mortgage fraud issues that have surfaced. She’s now hired Abbe Lowell of Hunter Biden fame and is suing Trump.
Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook sued President Trump Thursday for trying to fire her over mortgage fraud allegations, with her lawyers claiming the disputed loan records could amount to a simple “clerical error.”
The embattled Fed official’s lawyers asked for a DC federal judge to block the president’s “unprecedented and illegal” attempt to oust Cook, which would allow her to keep her job while the case proceeds.
In a subsequent filing, Cook’s attorneys also suggested that the Biden appointee had accidentally “mislabeled” one of her homes as a primary residence on a mortgage application four years ago.
Cook, who assumed her position full-time in 2023 and whose term is set to expire in 2038, recently retained ex-Hunter Biden attorney Abbe Lowell to represent her in the legal tussle with the commander in chief.
Here’s the issue. In 2021, in less than a month, she claimed TWO residences as her primary residence on mortgage loan documents.
The Trump administration has accused Cook of making false statements on mortgage applications within a two-week period of 2021 in connection with a home in Michigan and a condominium in Georgia. The applications were made before President Joe Biden nominated her to the Fed. Cook has yet to respond substantively to the allegations. The Justice Department says it has opened an investigation into the matter, but no charges have been filed publicly.
Bill Pulte, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency who first raised the accusations against Cook, wrote on X shortly after the filing that “there is new info we are learning about her deceitfulness while in office.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but if I find out that someone in a high-profile position that is purportedly in charge of steering the country’s economy did something like this, I’d want that person gone as well. I’d have zero confidence in that person’s veracity and ethics. I’d say those are two of the reasons Trump wanted her gone, and it has nothing to do with the Federal Reserve dragging it’s feet on cutting rates.
Moreover, the lawsuit is claiming this was a “clerical error.” That’s two pretty major “errors” within TWO weeks.

Democrats did back flips claiming this firing was all about Lisa Cook being a woman and black. No, it’s about her ETHICS, and the lack thereof.

Rightfully so, Bessent is now conducting an internal review of the Federal Reserve and all it’s operations. It’s about time.
Back in 2023, Lisa Cook after being nominated by Biden, appeared in front of the Senate Banking Committee.
As I mentioned above, Democrats have been screeching the “HOW DARE HE??!!” mantra about Trump having the audacity to fire a woman…a BLACK woman at that. Not one single one of them has or will say anything about the fact that her signatures are on both documents claiming that both properties are her primary residence.
Here’s something else. Did she disclose both of those properties during her nomination process? If she didn’t, that’s another very big problem for her.
What is notable about her responses and her lawsuit is the fact that she’s never flat out denied that she committed any mortgage fraud!
At no point in her 24-page lawsuit does Lisa Cook deny she committed mortgage fraud.

The arguments made by Abbe Lowell and CO are comically ludicrous.
Fudging the primary residency status “on a mortgage application well before her Board appointment without any allegation of its intentionality or materiality would not be the type of ‘offense’ that would constitute ’cause,’” Cook’s attorneys wrote in memo accompanying a request for a temporary restraining order Thursday.
“[A]llowing such a charge to be the basis for Presidential action with no investigation, substantiation, formal charge or court finding could hardly be enough evidence on which a ’cause’ firing could occur,” they went on.
The attorneys also argued Trump was trying to “remove Governor Cook because she has departed from his agenda over interest rates.”
“The President has no statutory authority to remove Governor Cook over a policy disagreement, which is the real reason he seeks her departure,” they wrote in the 24-page filing.
Interestingly, Abbe Lowell has another client who is facing allegations of mortgage fraud. Letitia James. Why not make it a trifecta and add Adam Schiff to the mix??
Lisa Cook’s non-denial of the mortgage fraud speaks volumes. Her lawsuit is a desperate gambit to ensure she stays on the Federal Reserve. What’s also interesting is that the Federal Reserve board and Jerome Powell have gone radio silent on the Lisa Cook issue. Interesting isn’t it?
The fact is, Lisa Cook’s ethics are in question. Especially since she hasn’t denied the fraud. I’d fire her too.
