IMMINENT TAX ALERT! Your Testimony is Needed. Road Tax – LC 2
By Oregon State Senator Bruce Starr,
The governor has called a special session this Friday to discuss a proposal that raises Oregon’s gas tax and payroll tax because majority leadership did not want to make a bipartisan deal in the 2025 Legislative Session. To be clear, we were ready to roll up our sleeves and make a deal that worked for all Oregonians.
But instead, this new “road tax” would hit every Oregon driver and worker while continuing to funnel billions into an agency with misaligned priorities and not nearly enough accountability or oversight. The proposal does nothing to fix structural flaws or ensure road dollars actually go to maintaining highways, freight routes, and the infrastructure Oregonians rely on.
The “my way or the highway” approach is not the Oregon way – we need collaboration, fiscal responsibility and solutions that work for everyone.
