Media Miss by the right: Illinois launches free legal help line for LGBTQ residents
Illinois is launching a new service called Pride Connect.
According to Gov. JB Pritzker, it’s a hotline that offers free legal advice and support to LGBTQIA+ individuals. He said the hotline aims to provide resources to combat discrimination and harassment, as well as facilitate access to housing and health care.
“As the only state in the nation that will provide free legal advice to protect the LGBTQ+ community, we’ll help fight ignorance with information and cruelty with compassion,” he said in a social media post.
The state of Illinois invested $250,000 into the hotline and an additional $100,000 was contributed by various groups and agencies, including the Illinois Department of Human Services.
