President Donald Trump was visited by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, where he hinted that one department name may be changing.
Trump was speaking to reporters when he revealed plans to change the name of the Department of Defense back to the Department of War, which is what it had previously been named until 1947, when an act of Congress created the DoD.

President Trump says he is going to change the name of the Department of Defense back to the Department of War.
Love this idea! They originally changed the name as a way of duping the American people into being more accepting of war.

“We call it the Department of Defense, but between us, I think we’re gonna change the name. I think we’re gonna have some information on that maybe soon, because I think, you know, Department of Defense, we won the World War I, World War II. It was called the Department of War. And to me, that’s really what it is. Defense is a part of that. But I have a feeling we’re gonna be changing,” he said. “I’m talking to the people, everybody likes that. We had an unbelievable history of victory when it was the Department of War, then we change it to Department of Defense.”
“So that’s a little thing, it has nothing to do with your country,” he assured the South Korean president. “But it’s something that you’re gonna be hearing about or seeing over the next couple of weeks. Probably that change is going to be made over the next week or so.
At another point in the meeting, reporter Kellie Meyer from NewsNation sought more details on the name change. Specifically, she was interested to hear how Trump would get that through Congress.
“And on the Department of War, how do you plan to do that? It requires an act of Congress to rename the Defense Department–” she asked.
“We’re just gonna do it,” Trump explained. “I’m sure Congress will go along if we need that. I don’t think we even need that. But if we need that, I’m sure Congress will go along. You know, that was a name when we won World War I. We won World War II. We won everything, and just to me, seems like just a much more appropriate [name].”
