Viktor Orbán explained that if the proportion of Muslim voters in a country increases compared to that of Jewish voters, then the government of that country will adopt a pro-Palestinian and pro-Islamic policy and then ‘the Jews will have to pack up and leave.’
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, as a guest on a YouTube show titled Warriors’ Hour, was asked about migration, Israel, and the situation of European Jewry. During a discussion about immigration and France’s willingness to recognize a Palestinian state, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned that migration poses two main risks: one is terrorism and crime, and the other is its effect on democratic systems.
That Is Simply Maths
He explained that if the proportion of Muslim voters in a country increases compared to that of Jewish voters, then the government of that country will adopt a pro-Palestinian and pro-Islamic policy. According to him, ‘that’s just how the math works—that’s democracy—and then the Jews will have to pack up and leave.’ He also warned that this is what has already happened in several Western European countries.
Regarding the two-state solution, Orbán called it an illusion and stated that an independent Palestinian state could only be considered if both sides recognized each other. However, that is not the case today, as the Jewish state opposes a two-state solution due to security concerns.
‘As long as there’s not even one [side recognizing the other], there’s nothing to talk about. So, I think keeping the two-state solution on the agenda actually hinders the kinds of agreements that could otherwise be achieved. It means keeping an illusion alive, one that, under current circumstances, reduces or outright prevents cooperation. So, I’m cautious with that,’ he said.
‘An independent Palestinian state could only be considered if both sides recognized each other’
Israeli Ambassador to Hungary Maya Kadosh expressed her gratitude to Viktor Orbán on her social media account, saying: ‘Thank you, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for your clear and courageous stance!’
‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions’
At the MCC Fest in Esztergom in August, the question also became a central topic in a panel discussion that was moderated by Director of the MCC Middle East Research Project Fanni Surjányi, and included Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel, Director of Actionable Consultancy Mzahem Alsaloum, Middle East expert and researcher from Tel Aviv University’s Moshe Dayan Center Nir Boms, and former commander in the British Army Richard Kemp.
Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister, who visited Hungary to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations, criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s intention to recognize Palestinian statehood, saying it merely encourages terrorists. Having served in the military herself, Haskel called the war dreadful and also cautioned Macron: ‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and walking it can lead to terrible consequences.’
Sharren Haskel explained that the war in Gaza can end in only one way: ‘When Hamas releases the roughly 50 Israeli hostages they have held in their torture chambers since the terrorist attacks of 7 October 2024.’ She warned that giving in to terrorist demands would only lead to more violence.
Choose Life and Celebrate It
She also explained that the Israeli army is taking huge risks to rescue hostages, but because Hamas fighters keep returning to cleared zones, Israel must maintain pressure. She emphasized that Israel gave Hamas an ultimatum: they can release hostages, disarm, and then operations will stop, but Hamas hasn’t responded.
‘Hamas fights against universal Western values, leaving Israel with no choice but to defend itself’
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the conflict is a religious war against radical Islamist ideology, not a territorial one. Western leaders like Macron, she said, fail to grasp this. In her view, Hamas fights against universal Western values, leaving Israel with no choice but to defend itself.
Sharren Haskel closed the discussion by saying: ‘The greatest revenge against terror is life and its joyous celebration.’ She pointed out that Israel consistently turns crises into strength. ‘These are all opportunities, even the horrific 7 October attack, because it enabled the international community to free Lebanon and Syria from Iranian influence. We must seize this moment,’ she added. She emphasized that this path offers absolute stability, unlike the approaches pursued by the leaders of France and the UK. Successfully fulfilling this mission affects the entire world.
