A federal judge has ruled that an abortion business in Maine can be defunded under the same new federal law that is being used to defund the Planned Parenthood abortion company.
When Congress passed a new law defunding the Planned Parenthood abortion business, the massive American abortion chain was the main point of discussion because it is the one most people know. However, the defunding bill also defunded another abortion company as well, located in Maine, because it meets the financial threshold to qualify for defunding.
Maine Family Planning was also defunded because the law includes all abortion businesses that received more than $800,000 from Medicaid in 2023.
Although the group bills itself as a legitimate medical provider pregnancy testing, contraception, family planning counseling, breast exams, cancer screenings and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, it killed 645 babies in abortions in 2024. As a result, the new law defund MFP because it engage sin killing babies along with legit medical care.

Maine Family Planning sued to keep its taxpayer funding, but a federal judge has ruled it can’t keep taxpayer dollars while it still kills babies.
Siding with the Trump administration, Judge Lance Walker of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, denied the abortion company’s request. As a result it stands to lose $1.9 million.
“Over the years, political winds have shifted and [Maine Family Planning] can only be understood as voluntarily standing its ground … despite the dramatically increased likelihood of defunding after Dobbs,” he said in the ruling. “Fair enough, but while its adherents may celebrate the firmness of its convictions, those convictions are not equal to the task of enjoining congressional will in this arena.”
Maine Family Planning has not yet said whether it plans to appeal Walker’s decision.
If Maine Family Planning wanted federal taxpayer funds, the easy solution is for it to stop killing babies. That would re-qualify it for Medicaid funds. But its lawsuit proves MFP cares more about abortion that just providing true medical care.
