Earlier this month, President Donald Trump took control of the Metropolitan Police Department and deployed National Guard troops to combat crime in Washington, D.C.
Despite screeching from Democrats, Attorney General Pam Bondi recently highlighted the results of that move.Â
Suspected Tren de Aragua gang member among those arrested
According to Breitbart, Bondi put up a social media post on Monday which touted the fact that there have been in excess of “1,000 arrests and more than 100 illegal guns seized.”

Last night, another 86 arrests including multiple suspects accused of assaulting law enforcement and National Guard — and a suspected Tren de Aragua gang member.

“Last night, another 86 arrests including multiple suspects accused of assaulting law enforcement and National Guard — and a suspected Tren de Aragua gang member,” she continued.
The attorney general then went on to conclude by declaring that “[e]very day of our mission we are making DC safe again.”
Social media users express gratitude to Bondi
“I’ve lost count of how many times I couldn’t walk because it wasn’t safe and had to take a car service just to go a few blocks to move around the city,” the person stressed.
Another person wrote, “Hi Fives!! Makes one realize just how bad things were!!” while a third figure asserted, “Thank you! All we needed was an administration that cared.”
The nation’s capital went a full 12 days with no murders following Trump’s takeover of law enforcement there, a streak which only after a deadly shooting early on Tuesday.
Trump wants the death penalty back in D.C.
Meanwhile, Fox News reported that Trump spoke during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday of how the death penalty should return to Washington.
“If somebody kills somebody in the capital, Washington, D.C., we’re going to be seeking the death penalty,” the president was quoted as telling reporters.
“And that’s a very strong preventative. And everybody that’s heard it agrees with it. I don’t know if we’re ready for it in this country, but we have it. … We have no choice,” he insisted.
Fox News recalled how capital punishment has long been absent from Washington, with the D.C. Council officially rescinding it in 1981.
