Blacks, on average, pay the least in taxes and perform the worst in school. However, all across the United States, Black public school children tend to receive the most money, on average, within their state.
According to the Michigan Department of Education [MDOP], the statewide average per pupil expenditure for Michigan public school students for the 2023-2024 school year was $15,601. This amount includes local, state, and federal funding put together.
Michigan likes to hype that state funding for public schools is equalized. However, other types of funding are astronomically skewed towards districts with the highest percentage of Blacks.
