With a title like that, your curiosity was piqued, right? Well, if you’re still reading, I’ll tell you. The Agenda, eponymous with this title, relates to the Agenda of Donald Trump’s Second Act. I’m not talking about The Apprentice—I’m talking about The Agenda of the 47th President of the United States.
Donald Trump, with all of his flaws, is the first Republican President in six decades who has effectuated a plan to bring America back to her founding ideals. And yes, it’s just that simple. Winston Churchill once said, “There is no plan so simple that it can’t be put on a single sheet of paper”. I believe that to be true. That said, conveying a plan in simple terms does not mean that in its execution will be simple.
As I’ve stated many times before in this column, the carbon dating of America’s inexorable swing to the Left began in 1964—the first full year after the Kennedy assassination, the Gulf of Tonkin, Mario Savio, and China’s Great Leap Forward. Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society,” amongst other things, destroyed the black family unit by encouraging—indeed demanding—that women with dependent children have no father in the home. What began as a kernel of destruction metastasized throughout America.
Based on these factors and more, a dominant academic anthem took hold: that America was an irredeemably racist land of economic inequality, and that already failed systems of mass slaughter, slavery, and repression might be the models worth emulating—namely, Collectivist and ultimately Communist mindsets.
Naturally, the Ivy League classroom is a small and rarefied universe, but one eternally worshipped by the American establishment. Its influence on government and the broader academic world filtered down through the decades. The seepage of Ivy League rot eventually became the agenda of one of our most brutally destructive organizations: the National Education Association. For decades, it has dictated much of America’s public-school agenda—inculcating children with “Hate America” ideas while neglecting basic skills like reading and math.
Six decades later, Rip Van America has woken up to a country whose children—living in cities controlled by Democrats for half a century—are borderline illiterate, poorer than ever despite trillions in federal programs, and taught to blame their plight on the usual suspects: incurable white racism and a rigged economic system.
Beyond the reality of this socio-educational blight, we have become a nation accepting the ideas that open borders, rising crime, illiteracy, loss of sovereignty, and energy dependence on absurd “alternative” mandates to destroy fossil fuels are somehow progress. We are told to accept hostility toward our only “Always-Ally” Israel, billions funneled into Universities that harbor Jew-hatred under the banner of “free speech”, and indoctrination of students with “Hate America” messages. We’ve tolerated the subjugation of American sovereignty to organizations beginning with the word “world,” and normalized academic tolerance of the idea that “Islamophobia” is a hateful American reality—rather than recognizing that Islam itself is, by its very nature, antithetical to other religions and Western values. (If you don’t believe me, just ask my old friend John Quincy Adams.)
For those of you out there who revile Donald Trump for his tweets, indiscretions, style, or even for more substantive reasons, look at it this way: What is now on the American political horizon is the specter of a sick and inexorable movement to the extreme Left, championed by AOC, Ilhan Omar, Mamdami, and other rising stars of the neo-communist movement that hate America, Christians, Jews, and all things Western… THIS IS THE ALTERNATIVE.
I think we should stick to the Agenda.
Regardless of your opinion concerning the causes of America’s cultural decline, the choice now before us could not be clearer….
