DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Iconic rapper Snoop Dogg said on Monday that he is “scared” to watch movies after his grandson witnessed a lesbian couple in a Disney film.
Snoop Dogg said on “Dom Lucre: Breaker of Narratives” that he took his grandson to see the 2022 Pixar film, “Lightyear,” which featured characters Alisha Hawthorne and her wife Kiko in a lesbian relationship. He described the awkward moment when his grandson asked him how two women can have a child together, saying he did not “come in for this s—.”
“We watching it and the lady, which is Kiki’s mama … they’re like, she had a baby with a woman. And my grandson, in the middle of the movie like ‘Papa Snoop, how does she have a baby with a woman, she’s a woman,’ I went ‘Oh s—, I didn’t come in for this s—, I just came here to watch a goddamn movie,’” the rapper said. “They just said ‘she and she had a baby, they both women, how does she have a baby?’ ‘Shh, the movie ain’t over yet.’ F— me, I’m scared to go to the movies now, like y’all are throwing me in the middle of this s— that I don’t have an answer for.”
WATCH:
The children’s film included a same-sex kiss between the character Alisha Hawthorne, who is Buzz Lightyear’s best friend, and her wife. Several countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), banned the film from airing in their homelands as a result of the same-sex couple.
Disney has pushed LGBTQ content on children and even donated to LGBTQ-friendly organizations in response to the backlash following the movie’s release. At the time, the organization clashed with Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as they condemned the new parental rights law in Florida that banned discussions about sexuality and gender in kindergarten through third-grade classrooms.
DeSantis also removed Disney’s self-governing status and special privileges in February 2023 provided to them through the Reedy Creek Improvement District, prompting Disney to sue the governor for allegedly launching a “targeted campaign of government retaliation.”
Snoop Dogg has appeared to grow increasingly conservative in recent years and revealed in January 2024 that he has nothing but “love and respect” for President Donald Trump.
