Democrats are now using Texas as a rallying cry to steal more seats than they already have.
They are going on TV, literally bragging about the idea of not being given a choice in gerrymandering.
Well, let’s blow that narrative right out of the water.
The Facts
I know we have covered this before, but people really need to understand how bad this problem really is, and much of it lies in the fact Democrats control much larger states than the GOP.
As an example, Democrats have California, which controls 52 congressional seats.
Out of those seats, there are only 12 controlled by Republicans, which is about half of what it should be.
Illinois is another state that only has three of its 17 seats to Republicans, even though Trump won more than 43% of the vote in the last election. Conservatives are significantly underrepresented in that state, congressionally speaking.
Vance Explains It
Vice President JD Vance was recently put on the spot to justify what is taking place in Texas, and he explained it quite well.
He stated, “First of all, Kristen, you have to ask yourself why have Democrats gerrymandered their states aggressively in the past 10 to 20 years. If you look, for example, at the popular vote in a lot of these states, in Massachusetts, where 32% of the residents of Massachusetts voted for Republicans, zero Republican federal representatives.”
He continued, “All we’re doing frankly is trying to make the situation a little bit more fair on a national scale. The Democrats have gerrymandered their states really aggressively. We think there’s opportunities to push back against that, and that’s really all we’re doing.”
I just have to ask why the media is not putting Democrats on the spot like this, which brings me to my next point.
Forced
Maryland Governor Wes Moore, a Democrat, was interviewed this weekend, and he proudly told the media he will remove the one seat in Congress that the GOP has in his state.
Mind you, Trump won about a third of the vote in the last election, but of the eight seats, the GOP only has one, so they should have one or two more seats if the maps were truly fair.
Moore was asked, “There is one seat here that is actually Republican and it is a seat held by Rep. Andy Harris. Are you considering trying to redraw lines in Maryland?” He responded, “When I say all options are on the table, all options are on the table.”
If the media had any respect for itself, he would have been confronted on the already gerrymandered maps. Instead, his political profile just got a boost as the media makes him out to be some type of hero for standing up to the bad orange man.
