Three innocent Americans are dead because of California’s reckless sanctuary policies.
Now Florida lawmakers are making sure everyone knows exactly who’s to blame.
And Florida lawmakers used one deadly crash to expose California’s sanctuary madness and left Gavin Newsom white as a ghost.
Florida GOP lawmakers blame California sanctuary laws for deadly crash
Fifteen Florida Republican lawmakers just delivered a devastating blow to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies by connecting them directly to the deaths of three Floridians.
The joint statement pulls no punches in blaming California’s immigration policies for a deadly crash on the Florida Turnpike that killed three people.
The crash involved Harjinder Singh, an illegal alien truck driver from India who somehow managed to get a commercial driver’s license from California despite being in the country illegally.
“What happens there ultimately harms families across our country and creates a clear threat to our national security,” the lawmakers wrote in their joint statement. “A commercial driver’s license should never have been placed into the hands of a criminal illegal alien.”

Singh caused the fatal collision when he attempted an illegal U-turn with his semi-truck in St. Lucie County.
Three people in a minivan died when they couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the truck’s trailer.
But here’s the kicker – a federal investigation revealed that Singh had obtained commercial licenses from both California and Washington State despite his undocumented status.
Even worse, Singh failed an English proficiency test after the crash, correctly answering only two out of twelve questions and identifying just one of four traffic signs.
The Department of Transportation determined that the driver “did not speak English.”
DeSantis and Collins take the fight directly to California
Governor Ron DeSantis isn’t letting this slide quietly.
He appeared on Fox News with Jesse Watters to blast Newsom personally for the sanctuary policies that enabled this tragedy.
“We had an issue where you had an illegal alien truck driver that got a commercial driver’s license in the state of California, employed by a California company, who killed three people in Florida,” DeSantis explained. “This guy didn’t even speak English.”
DeSantis announced that the federal government is pulling the California trucking company’s license because “you cannot employ somebody who cannot read the road signs for you.”
Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins took an even more direct approach by traveling to California personally to extradite Singh back to Florida.
At a press conference in Stockton, California, Collins didn’t mince words about Newsom’s failed policies.
“We’re done with that s***,” Collins declared. “He fled here. He fled to these failed policies.”

Collins explained that Singh fled to California after the crash specifically because “California has failed to take illegal immigration seriously.”
The retired Green Beret called his mission to California anything but performative politics.
“This is not performative, this is what leadership should be,” Collins stated. “I hope and pray that California gets their stuff together.”
Singh illegally entered the United States in 2018 through the southern border and has no legal immigration status.
He was nearly deported in 2018 but claimed asylum, fearing for his safety if he returned to India.
California’s dangerous sanctuary policies put Americans at risk
The Trump administration’s official statement didn’t pull any punches about California’s reckless approach to immigration.
“The illegal alien is an Indian national who was granted a commercial driver’s license by the so-called ‘sanctuary state’ of California, whose reckless policies put the lives of American citizens at risk every single day,” the White House statement read.
Instead of acknowledging the tragedy his policies enabled, Newsom doubled down by claiming that giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens “improves public safety.”
That’s right – Newsom actually had the audacity to argue that handing out CDLs to people who can’t speak English and are in the country illegally makes everyone safer.
The Department of Homeland Security asked the obvious question: “How many more innocent people have to die before Gavin Newsom stops playing games with the safety of the American public?”
The Florida lawmakers made it crystal clear that they won’t stand for California’s madness spreading to their state.
“California Democrats have chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens and law abiding legal residents,” their statement declared. “Florida will never accept this madness. Here, we defend our people, and we will uphold law and order to stop California’s reckless ideology from ever crossing our state line.”
The lawmakers concluded with a promise that should have Newsom worried: “While our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families, we will not stand idle. We will take action so that no more innocent lives are lost to this dangerous idiocy.”
What this really means for America
Look, this tragedy perfectly illustrates everything that’s wrong with sanctuary state policies.
You have an illegal alien who can’t speak English, failed basic English proficiency tests, and has no legal status in this country.
Yet somehow California – in all its infinite wisdom – decided this person should be allowed to drive an 80,000-pound death machine on American highways.
Three innocent Americans paid the ultimate price for California’s virtue signaling.
Singh illegally entered through the southern border in 2018, claimed bogus asylum to avoid deportation, and then California handed him the keys to a semi-truck.
The system worked exactly as California designed it – and three families are now planning funerals instead of family dinners.
Fortunately, DeSantis got the trucking company’s federal license revoked.
Collins personally traveled to California to bring Singh back to face justice in Florida.
And fifteen Florida lawmakers put their names on a statement calling out California’s dangerous policies for exactly what they are.
This isn’t just about one tragic crash – it’s about a systematic failure of California’s immigration policies that puts every American at risk.
