DETROIT, MI – A collision on Detroit’s east side left two police officers and a civilian injured Saturday evening, highlighting ongoing concerns about traffic safety in the area. The incident took place just after 6:30 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue, when a black truck collided with a police cruiser.

The driver of the black truck was also rescued by a courageous bystander before first responders arrived. All three injured parties were transported to local hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition. A passenger in the truck declined medical treatment.
According to police, the crash occurred when the truck driver allegedly ran a red light, striking the police vehicle. Bostic, a local resident, expressed concern about the frequent speeding on Gratiot Avenue, describing it as a hotspot for reckless driving.
“This area is notorious for speeding and feels like a drag strip at times,” Bostic noted. “People need to slow down. Lives are at risk.”
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine whether charges will be filed against the truck driver. Meanwhile, Bostic’s quick thinking and bravery have been praised by the community, serving as a reminder of the importance of looking out for one another.
