President Donald Trump’s efforts to reduce crime in Washington D.C. has been met with extreme criticism from the left and heaps of praise from the right.
According to The Hill, while speaking to federal and D.C. law enforcers and National Guard members, Trump told them, “We’re having a lot of victories,” noting the number of arrests that have happened since he federalized law enforcement there.
The president told them that with their help, they would help “make Washington D.C. great again.”
President Trump held a series of “thank you events” in the Washington, D.C. area to let law enforcement officers and National Guard troops know that he appreciates their efforts in his mission to crack down on crime.
What did he say?
The president rallied the law enforcement officers and National Guard troops during his meetings, even buying them lunch prepared by White House chefs along with takeout pizza.
“Let’s take care of these criminals,” Trump said at an event held at a U.S. Park Police operations facility in Southeast Washington last week.
“We’re going to put them where they have to be,” Trump added.
The Hill noted:
Trump said “everyone feels safe” now in D.C., adding he plans to “rebuild all of your parks,” replace signs in Washington he says “look like hell,” tackle broken curbs and rescue green spaces with sprinkler systems.
The president joked about his deep knowledge of grass, given that he owns a number of golf courses with some of the best grass on earth.
“I’m very good at grass,” the president told the police officers invited to the event, “because I have a lot of golf courses all over the place. I know more about grass than any human being I think anywhere in the world.”

The president was praised by his supporters across social media for his efforts in D.C. so far.

Another X user wrote, “I could not be more proud.”
