NORTH HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A mother and her 3-year-old daughter are in critical condition after being rescued from a house fire early this morning on Reading Springs Lane, just south of the Beltway. The blaze erupted shortly after 3 a.m., with seven family members inside at the time.
Firefighters arrived swiftly, managing to control the flames. However, the mother and child were found upstairs and required immediate medical attention. Paramedics performed CPR en route to the hospital, successfully restoring their pulses.
The Northwest Volunteer Fire Department reported that three family members escaped the home independently but were taken to the hospital as a precaution. They are expected to recover fully. Two additional family members managed to exit without injury.
Firefighters encountered a challenge upon arrival due to burglar bars on the windows, which delayed their entry into the residence. These bars had to be cut through to access the victims inside.
The fire was mostly contained to the second floor, minimizing damage to the rest of the house. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s office, with arson investigators on the scene.
Family members expressed gratitude to the fire crews for their swift actions in rescuing their loved ones. As the investigation continues, the community remains hopeful for the recovery of the mother and daughter.
