13-year-old boy killed in gas station shooting

PICO RIVERA, CA – A community is reeling after a tragic shooting claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy at a local gas station late Tuesday night. The incident occurred at a 76 gas station on Rosemead and Whittier Boulevard, where the young victim was waiting for a relative who works nearby.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 11:45 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the boy suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation to uncover the motive behind the shooting and identify the suspect.

Detectives have been working tirelessly, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses throughout the night. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot immediately after the shooting. As of now, there are few leads to follow, and the motive remains unclear.

A lieutenant from the sheriff’s department noted that there was no indication of a robbery or argument preceding the incident. The victim, known to frequently stay in the area while waiting for his relative to finish work, was an innocent bystander caught in the violence.

Local residents express growing concern over safety, as this marks the second shooting in Pico Rivera within days. Just last Thursday, another man was killed at a different gas station on Washington Boulevard, approximately two miles away. Although police do not currently believe the two incidents are connected, the suspects in both cases remain at large.
