FIY, in order for it to activate, the machines have to shake on a certain strength and rhythm for a certain period of time. Also, if multiple are in the location, they all have to experience the same thing. If only one shakes and others don’t, it’ll assume a false alarm…

The “Door to Hell” in Turkmenistan, which has been burning for 54 years, is about to be closed…
In 2013, the crater’s flame intensity and temperatures were at its recorded peak. At the same time, renowned Canadian explorer, George Kourounis, became the first – and only – person to enter the crater wearing a full heat-reflective Kevlar/Nomex suit and a firefighter’s Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to provide oxygen. He descended to the 752 °F (400 °C) crater floor and retrieved soil samples. Scientists later found extremophile bacteria living in the scorched earth samples Kourounis provided.
Somehow, life finds a way!
The crater opened in 1971 after a Soviet gas drilling rig accidentally hit a natural gas reservoir. End of an era…

There was a really fascinating series of articles written by a cryonics true believer who was disheartened and disillusioned by what he saw trying to be a pioneer in the industry in the 70s and 80s and how the bodies were mistreated. It also discussed how many of these projects couldn’t self sustain and the bodies were allowed to thaw and turn into sludge. He also saw the perfusion process of rapidly making the blood cold was done in a way that guaranteed infections and issues on many bodies because the perfusion techs basically didn’t care because, he suspected, they thought the whole idea these would be people brought back to life someday was a fantasy.
Cryonics: An Historical Failure Analysis is the series in there I think. Even had pictures which are cool…
It costs $200k for full body preservation. $80k for brain preservation.
You fund it by buying both a monthly membership while you’re alive (~$100/mo or less, depending on age) and additionally buying a life insurance policy from them, naming them as the beneficiary, and if you die between the ages of 25 and 50, they will use the money from that policy to preserve you. Unclear what the process is if you’re over 50.
It also says that if your death results in some kind of delay (eg: needing an autopsy or police investigation) you’re basically down the drain…
Gosh that’s a good way to make money…
There was another case like this in Georgia where the crematory operator had dumped possibly hundreds of bodies on his family farm… The motivation was just fraud. It’s cheaper and easier to mix up some fake remains than to actually do the cremation… Amen…

Bright farside CME will reach Mars…
On Aug. 21st, a fast-moving CME blew away from the farside of the sun, forming a complete halo around the solar disk:
Radio emissions from shock waves inside the CME suggest it was moving at 1,200 km/s (2.7 million mph)–very fast, but not record-setting.
However, it will not hit Earth. Instead, a NASA model predicts it will strike Mars on Aug. 25th, potentially sparking global UV auroras around the Red Planet.
Keep your eyes to the sky!
