TAMPA, FL – A harrowing incident unfolded in Pasco County as authorities charged a woman with dousing her husband in sulfuric acid. The victim, now in critical condition, was transported to Tampa General Hospital for urgent care.
The alleged attacker, identified as Sean Yang, reportedly trapped her husband, Robert Hayden, in their New Port Richey home, which remains sealed off with biohazard warnings. Authorities discovered Hayden with severe chemical burns covering much of his body.
Investigators have yet to disclose a motive, but court records indicate the couple was embroiled in a divorce process. A family court hearing was scheduled the same day as the attack. The couple, who met online, married last August, but Hayden filed for divorce in March.
Yang allegedly confessed to 911 operators, admitting her intent to harm and attempts to kill her husband multiple times. Despite previous domestic issues at the residence, no arrests had been made until this incident.
In court, Yang appeared visibly distressed, sobbing as she faced the judge. She has been denied bond for the attempted murder charge, although a $50,000 bond was set for aggravated assault.
Authorities continue to investigate, with officials hinting that charges could be upgraded given the severity of the attack. The community remains in shock as details emerge about the couple’s tumultuous relationship.
