INCITS is the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards, and is the “U.S. forum dedicated to creating technology standards for the next generation of innovation”.
Brandy Smith is the Chair of the INCITS Brain Computer Interfaces Committee and was interviewed by Lara Logan about her work. In the interview, Ms. Smith discussed the dangers in the advancement of interfacing human brains with computers. What she discloses is a frightening movement to merge humans with technology.
Technology that uses Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) is advancing rapidly, and with artificial intelligence (AI) it will eventually lead to the creation of human cyborgs. This achieves the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) goal for “the fusion of digital, biological and physical worlds” as explained by Klaus Schwab.
Beginning with the dangers of wearable devices and how they can be used to read human thoughts, and send thoughts into a brain, Ms. Smith goes on to describe how this can also occur with video games and wearable devices such as ones used in the medical field, or for other purposes such as fitbits and smartwatches, eventually expanding with smartphones.
A brief discussion took place about who is making decisions on BCI. Like pharmaceutical corporations, technology industries are deciding your future. With quantum computing, there will be no choices. Currently, there is no government support for the committee’s work to develop standards for this technology.
According to Ms. Smith, these technologies are already in place through wearables, gaming, and in the military. While currently operating on 5G, 6G will make these technologies “more intuitive”. As she explains, protections are needed, especially with China moving towards more intrusive technology. And, she encourages taking regular breaks from using technology as it is also being used to change the way in which we interact with each other and with our environment.
Since the recent AI Action Plan doesn’t address safeguards or ethical standards for these technologies, now would be a good time to support Ms. Smith’s work and contact the White House. Don’t let Schwab’s words come to fruition without protections.
While these technologies have the capability to control our lives, in truth, by refusing to engage with them, we have the control as explained by Ms. Smith. Towards the end of the video, Ms. Smith expresses her deep belief in God. Clearly, all of this technology is lacking in any realm of faith. It is pure science, pure technocracy.
