The Menendez brothers are staying behind bars.
One day after Erik Menendez was denied parole in an Aug. 21 hearing, his older brother Lyle Menendez now shares the same fate, as his request was also denied Aug. 22.
The pair—who were convicted of the 1989 murders of their parents José Menendez and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez—will next be eligible for parole in three years, according to NBC News.
Their bids were rejected after all-day hearings from the California Board of Parole Hearings, which believed that the brothers should not be released from prison following the May resentencing that made them eligible for supervised release.
