The good news is that the largest abortion clinic in America and the Western Hemisphere is closing, effective September 30.
This immense and symbolic defeat of the giant abortion provider represents the failure of a model, a change in the debate and a fall from power.
Houston’s Prevention Park Planned Parenthood is a monstrous 78,000 square-foot facility that has been likened to a Mayan pyramid where human sacrifices took place. At its peak, this center saw its own sacrifices in the form of ten thousand babies aborted annually. The center represented the height of Planned Parenthood’s power and influence, which is now waning.
The abortion battle is not won. That is far from the case. However, the scenario has changed drastically. Planned Parenthood is forced to find other ways of accomplishing its nefarious purposes. The old model no longer works.
The Destruction of a Model
Setting up local Planned Parenthood clinics everywhere was supposed to be the best model to make abortion readily available. By removing the consequences of the sexual act, the clinics also served to destroy Christian morality.
These facilities helped install an anti-Christian civilization where the unbridled passions would rule. They embodied the anarchical chant at the 1968 student revolution at the University of Sorbonne in France: “It is forbidden to forbid!”

For a long time, these centers were also part of the local landscape in most major cities throughout the country through their promotion of contraception. By grabbing and advancing the abortion standard in the seventies, they soon became a platform for implementing the sexual revolution in America. It was no coincidence that Planned Parenthood carried the sexual revolution yet further by promoting the ever more radical goals of transgender surgeries and activism.
However, the clinics were also the targets of constant protests. Enough people became aware of the horrors of abortion to make the Planned Parenthood model fail. Thus, its crown jewels, like the Prevention Park location and so many others, are shutting down.
The Debate Has Changed
The model failed because the debate has changed. The discussion is no longer about the old sixties arguments of women’s health and choice.
Above all, the pro-life movement has turned the issue into the moral debate it always needed to be. Planned Parenthood centers like the massive Prevention Park facility have been surrounded by pro-lifers who remind those who enter that procured abortion is a moral issue that involves right and wrong. By their savvy tactics, protesters have highlighted the human aspect of abortion. The issue was never about choice but the barbarous slaughter of innocent human life.
Pro-lifers have further extended the debate by rightly making it a religious battle against the dark powers of the culture of death. They have stressed that abortion is a sin that offends a loving God. They invite all to repent and return to the Father.

Their prayers and rosaries imploring Divine aid have been fruitful beyond their expectations. Hundreds of clinics have shuttered. Countless babies have been saved. The hearts and minds of untold women seeking an abortion were changed. These prodigals found Christian charity among the protesters who helped them choose and stay on the path to motherhood.
A Fall From Power
The shift of the debate has caused Planned Parenthood’s “unplanned” fall from power. Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast CEO Malaney Linton links the “heartbreaking, infuriating” closing to the direct result of “sustained political attacks.”
Many have seen the handwriting on the wall and are willing to throw the old model under the bus in pursuit of other models like “telemedicine” and chemical abortion pills that continue the sexual revolution through other means.
Just this year, some 38 Planned Parenthood facilities were shuttered. Many more are on the way. National and state governments are stopping the massive funding that channeled hundreds of millions of dollars to the abortion provider every year for decades.

Media outlets like The New York Times report that the abortion provider is in dire financial straits. Morale is down, and employee turnover is extremely high. Abortion mills have been exposed for using outdated equipment run by tired, poorly paid and undertrained staff. Some women are suing abortion providers for badly done procedures and botched abortions.
Planned Parenthood is no longer a sacred cow but one that might be sacrificed while the movement searches for other solutions.
Abortion on Demand Disputed
Abortions are still happening in great numbers. However, the significance of the closing of the Prevention Park is that the goal of abortion on demand is put into doubt.
The pro-life movement has managed to severely restrict abortion in vast swathes of the country. The model that sought a universal conception-to-birth abortion mandate is broken and sinking. The “settled law” that guaranteed unlimited abortion on demand in every major city has been overturned.

Planned Parenthood has lost its air of invincibility. What makes the Prevention Park closing so significant is that this huge, ugly-as-sin structure was intimidating. Veteran protesters report that some activists often felt “overwhelmed” and “depressed” by the massive building, which projected an impression of invincibility.
It was not without cause that thousands of pro-lifers who have stood outside this colossal temple of death over the years rejoiced upon hearing the good news. The monstrous structure was closing!
However, the battle is far from over. It is time to redouble efforts. It is time to overthrow the sexual revolution that is the cause of the abortion crisis and the destruction of the family.
With God’s help, it can be done. He has already shown the might of His arm in destroying the sinister Prevention Park monolith.
