Florida’s election system has become the gold standard for the rest of the country.
Other states are still struggling with basic vote counting weeks after elections end.
And Ron DeSantis gave Congress one strategy to stop Democrat election “shenanigans” that has the Left scrambling for cover.
DeSantis calls out the obvious problem everyone else ignores
Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t mince words when he spoke about the state of American elections on Tuesday.
While President Trump announced plans to eliminate mail-in ballots and “highly inaccurate voting machines” nationwide, DeSantis pointed to Florida as proof that fast, secure elections are absolutely possible.
“We’ve really done it right in Florida,” DeSantis said during a press conference, contrasting his state’s same-night results with places like California that take weeks to count ballots.¹
The Florida Governor laid out exactly what’s wrong with these dragged-out counting processes.
“It’s usually the Republican will be winning after election night, and the counted, then they keep counting – and keep counting – and keep counting – for weeks on end and it takes them four, six, eight weeks to produce the results for an election! And I’m just thinking, how is that inspiring confidence in all this stuff? And the changes in the margins usually go one way when they keep counting,” DeSantis said.²
Florida’s model exposes other states’ games
DeSantis isn’t just complaining about the problem – he’s offering the solution that’s been working in Florida for years.
The Sunshine State uses mail-in voting but has banned mass drop boxes and ballot harvesting.
Florida requires voter ID for all elections, and crucially, mail votes are counted before election night to produce same-night results.³
All voters use paper ballots, whether they vote by mail, during early voting, or on Election Day.
It’s a system that combines security with efficiency – something that apparently confuses bureaucrats in other states.
“Don’t tell us it can’t be done,” DeSantis said, directly challenging states that claim weeks-long counting is somehow necessary.
“Our model is the best model for the country.”⁴
But here’s where it gets interesting.
Congress has the power to stop the shenanigans
DeSantis dropped a strategic bombshell that has Democrats worried about their carefully crafted election systems.
“Congress may be able to do some things to make it so these states are not able to pull some of the shenanigans they did,” the Florida Governor stated.⁵
Think about what he’s really saying here.
While Democrats and their media allies scream about “voter suppression” every time someone mentions basic security measures, DeSantis is pointing to a state that makes voting easy and secure simultaneously.
Florida processes millions of votes and delivers results on election night.
Meanwhile, states like California – which somehow can’t figure out how to count ballots in less than a month – claim their systems are just fine.
The pattern is so obvious even mainstream reporters would notice it if they bothered to look.
Republicans lead on election night, but after weeks of “finding” more ballots, those leads mysteriously evaporate.
DeSantis isn’t buying the excuses, and neither should anyone else.
Trump’s broader election integrity push gains momentum
President Trump’s announcement about eliminating mail-in ballots nationwide fits perfectly with DeSantis’s congressional strategy.
Trump posted on Truth Social that he plans to sign an executive order “to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections.”⁶
The President pointed out that America has become “the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting” because “All others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED.”
Trump’s approach is characteristically direct – use federal authority to force states to clean up their acts.
DeSantis is suggesting a more tactical congressional approach that could accomplish the same goals.
Either way, the message is clear: the days of weeks-long vote counting and mysterious ballot discoveries are numbered.
The Left’s panic reveals everything
Watch how Democrats and their media allies react to basic election security measures.
They’ll claim requiring voter ID is “voter suppression” while ignoring that Florida makes voting accessible to everyone with proper identification.
They’ll defend weeks-long counting processes as “thorough” while ignoring that Florida counts millions of votes in a single night.
The panic tells you everything you need to know about whether these systems are designed for security or manipulation.
DeSantis has given Congress a roadmap and Trump has provided the political will.
Now it’s time to see if Republicans in Washington have the backbone to implement real election reforms.
The American people deserve elections that are decided on election night, not weeks later in back rooms where nobody’s watching.
Florida proved it can be done – now it’s time for the rest of the country to catch up.
