Several days ago, the nation was horrified when a video of a nasty crash in Florida went viral. The crash involved a tractor-trailer that was being driven by an alleged illegal immigrant, with three people dying in the crash.
The driver fled to California, but Governor Ron DeSantis went after him to have him brought back to Florida to face real justice.
The accident
When Harjinder Singh took his test, he only answered two of the 12 questions correctly for his English proficiency test.
When he was tested for traffic signs, he only identified one of them correctly, yet he was able to obtain his license in not one, but two sanctuary cities.
Had he known the laws, perhaps he would not have attempted an illegal U-turn, which led to a family car smashing into the truck as he attempted to make the turn.
While Singh left the scene alive, the passengers in the car did not.
Running away
The video of the accident was horrifying, as Singh was expressionless after the car hit his truck while he was attempting the illegal maneuver.
Afterward, he fled Florida rather than face charges in a non-sanctuary state.
As you might have guessed by now, he went to California, where he figured he would not be held to the same legal standard as in Florida.
Well, Governor Ron DeSantis was not about to let that happen, so he sent someone out to California to bring Singh back, where he now faces three counts of vehicular homicide.
Got our man
When word got out that Singh had skipped town, DeSantis sent a deputy out to bring him back.
He stated, “I have dispatched my new lieutenant governor, Jay Collins, to California to apprehend Harjinder Singh. Fleeing to a sanctuary state will not prevent him from facing justice in Florida, and we will make sure of that. He will be held accountable for his criminal actions.”
DeSantis sent Jay Collins, his new lieutenant governor, after him. Collins stated, “Florida lost three innocent lives at the hands of an illegal immigrant who never should have been in this country to begin with.
“I believe in a government that doesn’t look the other way but takes the time to enforce the law and hold criminals fully accountable: That’s why I’m en route to California right now to ensure this individual is extradited back to Florida.”
I have to say… I love this move by DeSantis to have Singh tried where the crime was committed rather than allowing him to face justice in a state like California, where he would have likely drawn a liberal judge who would have taken it easy on him. That will not happen in Florida.
