The Second Annual “People’s Conference for Palestine,” scheduled for August 29–31 in Detroit, is not an innocent cultural gathering; it is a national security threat hiding behind secrecy. The organizers have refused to disclose the location to the public, reserving it only for “vetted” insiders. Now we know why.
The Trump administration confirmed Wednesday that it is moving to block visas for foreign terrorists and sympathizers slated to attend. A senior State Department official told the Washington Free Beacon that nearly 40 international speakers are being placed on a “look out” status to prevent entry, including convicted terrorists like Hussam Shaheen — who served 27 years in prison for attempted murder before being released in February’s hostage-exchange deal — and Omar Assaf, a former member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a designated terrorist group.
They will be joined by radical propagandists such as Palestinian journalist Lama Ghosheh, convicted of praising terrorism and incitement; Gaza-based poet Mosab Abu Toha, who has openly justified Hamas’s hostage-taking on October 7; UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, founder of Students for Justice in Palestine; infamous anti-Semite Linda Sarsour; and Mahmoud Khalil, an Algerian national tied to violent campus uprisings. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Richmond, California, mayor Eduardo Martinez are once again lending legitimacy to the event.
This is not free speech; this is a convergence of Hamas sympathizers, foreign agitators, and elected officials working in concert to export their agenda into American communities, campuses, and even elementary schools.
Conference organizers have created a special track for kids ages 6–12, with activities branded as “Palestinian history, culture, and resistance.”

On Saturday, children will attend “story time,” be shown “Palestine on a map,” and learn to identify the “sounds of Palestine.”

On Sunday, they will participate in embroidery sessions, dabke workshops, and even a “Gaza movie theater.” Far from cultural education, these are tools of soft radicalization — planting the idea of “resistance” in the minds of the youngest attendees.

Who is Behind the Conference?
The organizations hosting include:
- Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM),
- United States Palestinian Community Network (USPCN),
- The People’s Forum (TPF),
- Al-Awda: The People’s Right to Return Coalition,
- Palestinian Feminist Collective (PFC),
- Answer Coalition,
- United States Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR),
- Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC),
- People’s Center for Palestine (PCP),
- National Students for Justice in Palestine (National SJP),
- Writers Against the War on Gaza (WAWOG), and
- Arab Resource Organizing Center (AROC).
These organizations are known for their pro-Hamas protests held nationwide over the last two years, the college encampments, possible ties to terrorist organizations, and some of the founding members of these organizations are convicted PFLP terrorists, like USPCN’s Rasmea Odeh; who was deported from the United States in 2017 for lying on her visa application about her involvement in the 1969 Jerusalem bombing that resulted in the death of two civillians.
What is their Goal?
The theme this year is “Gaza is the Compass.”
On the conference website, they describe what this theme means:
“Gaza is the compass! This is our guiding principle for the Second Annual People’s Conference for Palestine. Gaza keeps our path true: it reminds us of our direction in the struggle and the sacrifices that have been made; it exposes the forces we must contend with on the path to victory, and it reveals the horizon of liberation. For this reason, Zionism and imperialism waged an ongoing genocide against Gaza and attempt to continue it through other means. With Gaza as our guide, we aim to convene at this critical phase to continue building and strengthening the mass movement in North America.”
Their listed objectives are: 1) Respond to the genocide and starvation by documenting the genocide, demanding accountibilty, and mobilizing, 2) Engage in our ability and role to support the material needs and steadfastness of our people 3) ISOLATE AND EXPOSE ZIONISM (JEWS) BY MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RECOVER ITS IMAGE AFTER THIS GENOCIDE and 4) Offer concrete tools and lessons for attendees to bring back their organizing locales and communities.
Their entire premise is that “liberation” is the key; the attack on October 7th (the liberation) that resulted in the killing of 1200 Israelis and the kidnapping of over 200 people, including Americans, was justified and has nothing to do with why Israel is defending itself. The entire conference’s objective is to isolate “ZIonists”, aka Jews, from society just like the Nazi’s did in World War 2. They will mobilize their efforts to enforce this and distribute lessons and tools to share with their friends at home. The after effects of last year’s conference gave us encampments on college campuses, resulting in mass vandalism, attacks on students, and even a brief hostage situation of an employee on Columbia’s campus.

Mariam even laughed at Ilhan Omar while she was condemning the actions of Hamas and said, “Lulz. This one is for the records.” She has downplayed the taking of hostages. Mr. Chairman, we have also learned that AMP’s founder and president, Hatem Bazian, was 1 of 2 featured speakers at a 2004 KindHearts fundraising dinner in California. Incidentally, the other speaker at this dinner was Mohammed el-Mezain, who is currently in jail for his role in the Holy Land Foundation and for providing financial support to Hamas. Bazian, I should note, also spoke in England at an event in 2014 sponsored by the Hamas charity known as Interpal, which was designated for terrorism by the U.S. Treasury in 2003. Interpal belonged to an umbrella organization known as Union of Good, which was also designated by the Treasury for terrorism in 2008. Finally, there are multiple connections between AMP and the Islamic Association for Palestine, or IAP. This was a group found civilly liable in Federal court for supporting Hamas. One interesting figure here is Osama Abuirshaid, who ran IAP’s newspaper. He is currently the National coordinator and policy director for AMP.”

During one of the protests that Grant attended, chants of “Zionists off Campus” could be heard. He wrote a book entitled “Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five.” The Holy Land Foundation Trial is one of America’s largest financial terrorism trials, where it was proven that the Holy Land Foundation was funneling money to Hamas. It was also proven that many Islamic organizations are linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

In FY 2020-2021, total income was $8.5 million; total expenses were $5.6 million.”
On May 15, 2021, Zeiad wrote:
The first Intifada laid the groundwork for the second Intifada. Now it seems the Palestinians have a new Intifada, and maybe it will grow into more than an Intifada. The young generation will let us know. Free Palestine!”
On Oct 7, 2023, MECA published a blog entitled “Gaza Diaries: Searching for somewhere safe,” where they were blaming Israel for the bombardment of Gaza. Hours before, they posted an article, “We Expect the Worst.” They were blaming Israel for bombing Gaza, not even hours after Hamas attacked innocent civilians and was kidnapping 200 others.
34) Chris Smalls

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is best known for being a part of the “Hamas Caucus.” She spoke at last year’s conference, and according to Canary Mission, “6 of her 2018 fundraiser co-hosts either raised money for Hamas or had a close relationship with the terror group.” The six individuals allegedly involved in raising money for Hamas are: Mwafaq Jbara, Sheikh Muhammad Qatanani, Huwaida Arraf (a speaker at this conference), Salah Sarsour, Rafeeq Jaber, and Abdelbaset Hamayel. Canary Mission also proved that Tlaib: invited a guest of honor at the 2019 swearing-in linked to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, used a pro-terror FB Page for 2018 Election Fundraising, founded a pro-terror hate group, Black4Palestine, in Detroit in 2015, and that the pro-terror Hate Group, Black4Palestine, worked directly with PFLP Terrorists from 2016 to 2020.

He recruited and supplied weapons for multiple terrorist attacks.”
A National Security Test for America
The mask is off. The People’s Conference for Palestine is not about peace, justice, or culture — it is about normalizing terror on U.S. soil. Convicted killers, Hamas propagandists, and professional agitators are gathering in Detroit under the protection of secrecy, aided by American elected officials who should know better. The addition of children’s indoctrination tracks proves that this movement is not only trying to mobilize adults — it is planting seeds of hatred in the next generation.
The Trump administration is right to move against foreign radicals by blocking their visas. But that is only the beginning. Non-citizens already inside the United States who glorify Hamas or justify October 7th should face deportation under existing terrorism provisions of immigration law. The groups behind this conference — from Students for Justice in Palestine to the Palestinian Youth Movement — must be investigated for material support to terrorism. And American politicians, including Rashida Tlaib, must be censured for giving legitimacy to extremists bent on dismantling America’s security and Israel’s existence.
Detroit is a test case. If the United States shrugs and looks the other way while this conference unfolds, it sends one message to our enemies: that America will tolerate terrorism so long as it dresses itself up as “activism.” The State Department, Congress, and the American people must not allow this threat to take root. The choice is clear — either we stop it now, or we will pay the price later when today’s “conference” becomes tomorrow’s October 7th on American soil.
