More and more women are turning to the abortion pill (chemical abortion) — often alone, online, and under-informed. In Illinois, a recently passed bill will turn college campuses into abortion facilities by forcing them to distribute these dangerous pills.
As pro-lifers, we must be ready not only with compassion, but with truth and practical support. When a woman is considering the abortion pill, your informed response could save a life.
What Is the Abortion Pill?
Chemical abortion involves two drugs:
- Mifepristone – blocks progesterone, ending the baby’s life
- Misoprostol – causes contractions to expel the baby
This process can be painful, risky, and deeply traumatic — and is often downplayed by abortionists and pro-abortion activists.
Serious Risks Include:
- Severe infection
- Sepsis (life-threatening)
- Hemorrhage
- Incomplete abortion
- Blood clots
- Intense pain and prolonged bleeding
- Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
- Undetected ectopic pregnancy (can be fatal)
- Over 30 women in the U.S. have died from these drugs since 2000
1 in 10 women experience severe complications such as hemorrhage, infection, or emergency surgery.
And yet, abortion pills are now distributed by mail, with no medical exam — putting more women at risk.
What If She’s Already Taken the First Pill?
