The US has sent three destroyers and will send four thousand Marines to patrol the waters around Venezuela in another step toward taking out the drug cartels, as promised by President Trump. In response, dictator Nicolas Maduro has reportedly activated 4.5 million militiamen.

The US moves military assets into Venezuela’s waters
The three U.S. Aegis guided-missile destroyers include the USS Gravely, the USS John Dunham, and the USS Sampson, according to two anonymous US officials who spoke with the Associated Press on Tuesday. The Marines will be deployed “over the course of several months,” and will be supported by P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft, warships, and a nuclear-powered submarine that will patrol international waters and the skies, according to Reuters.

A senior official, who spoke under condition of anonymity, said the operation’s primary goals are intelligence gathering and surveillance, but also indicated that the units could serve as a platform for “targeted strikes” if authorized by President Trump.
Venezuela sees this as a possible prelude to war, which it may be. At the very least, it is Trump brandishing a very big stick concerning the cartels and stopping the fentanyl and drug pipelines coming out of Maduro’s domain that are killing Americans.
The resurgence of the Monroe Doctrine
At long last, we may be seeing a return to the Monroe Doctrine, and communists in Latin America are being put on notice.

There is a $50 million bounty on Maduro’s head, whom the US does not recognize as the legitimately elected leader of Venezuela. The Trump administration has branded Venezuela’s regime as a “narco-terror cartel” and is demanding that Maduro be held accountable for it. That could include arrest or death, with either outcome acceptable.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the operation and remarked that the president “has been very clear and consistent” about using “every element of American power to stop drugs from flooding into our country and to bring those responsible to justice,” according to Fox News.
She also emphasized that “The Maduro regime is not the legitimate government of Venezuela. It is a narco-terror cartel. Maduro is a fugitive head of this cartel who has been indicted in the United States for trafficking drugs into the country.”

The Miami Herald noted, “Maduro and several of his top allies have been indicted by U.S. prosecutors for allegedly turning Venezuela into a narco-state through the so-called ‘Cartel of the Suns.’ Maduro has dismissed the charges as a “rotting rerun” aimed at justifying foreign intervention.”
Fox News reports that the Justice Department has already seized over $700 million in assets tied to Maduro. Those include two private jets and nine luxury vehicles. No wonder Chavez-lite is ticked.

The communist was indicted in New York in 2020 on narco-terrorism and cocaine importation conspiracy charges when the first bounty of $15 million was put on his head. He has held sham elections claiming he won democratically, when that could not be further from the truth. His opponents and detractors tend to wind up missing or dead as well. He has learned his lessons in power and thuggery well from Russia, China, and Cuba, which all support him.
Maduro panics
On Monday, Maduro did a televised address, vowing that his country would “defend our seas, our skies and our lands,” against “the outlandish, bizarre threat of a declining empire.” Someone should tell him this is not the Biden administration anymore, and his blustering is about to get him spanked big time.
“Weapons and missiles for the peasant force! To defend the territory, sovereignty, and peace of Venezuela… Missiles and weapons for the working class, so that they can defend our homeland,” Maduro declared.

Speaking to allies at a political event on Monday evening, Maduro vowed to defend his country’s sovereignty: “Our seas, our skies, and our lands are defended by us, liberated by us, guarded and patrolled by us. No empire will come to touch the sacred soil of Venezuela, nor should it touch the sacred soil of South America, no empire in the world.”
Previously, the Pentagon deployed two warships to that region to deter drug trafficking and secure the border. However, things are now escalating, and immigration enforcement has been hardened against gang members like Tren de Aragua, MS-13 in El Salvador, and six groups in Mexico. Trump designated those gangs as foreign terrorist organizations in February and imposed sweeping sanctions on Maduro, labeling him a dictator.
Latin American despots soil themselves over Trump
Maduro isn’t the only communist tinpot dictator in Latin America, and the others are getting spooked as well by Trump.
Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro whined that if Trump invaded Venezuela, it could turn into another Syria. He claims it is not because he is an ally of Maduro but because he fears an invasion and a war.

During a meeting with his ministers, he firmly stood against the US sending thousands of Marines and three warships into Venezuelan waters, according to Colombia Reports.
“I told [US President Donald] Trump, through his emissaries, that this would be the worst mistake,” stated Petro as if somehow threatening the president would gain him anything.
It should be noted that Petro is a self-described progressive, but what he really is is a communist.
From Colombia Reports:
The president warned that an invasion of Venezuela could cause a civil war similar to the one that has destroyed Syria since 2011. The civil war also led to spillover conflict in neighboring countries like Iraq and Lebanon.
“The gringos are in trouble if they think invading Venezuela will solve their problem. They’re putting Venezuela in the same situation as Syria, only with the added problem that they’re dragging Colombia into the same mess,” Petro derisively commented.
In a statement that was published on Tuesday, the Venezuelan government said: “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela observes with total clarity the desperation of the United States administration, which resorts to threats and defamation against our country. Washington’s accusation that Venezuela is involved in drug trafficking reveals their lack of credibility and the failure of its policies in the region.”

Maduro goes bonkers over potential invasion
Maduro had Venezuelan state propaganda released in the form of a very weird series of videos over the past week that showcased the “training” Venezuela’s citizens are engaged in to scare the US military out of invading, as well, according to Breitbart. He evidently believes that the claimed 4.5 million militiamen will cause Trump to back off. That is almost laughable. The dictator also issued a renewable 30-day nationwide ban on drones.
Breitbart did excellent reporting on the bizarre actions of a desperate Maduro:
Videos circulating on social media this week show Maduro attending what appears to be a martial arts exhibition performed by Venezuelan Army officials. The training room features large pictures of the Venezuelan dictator, his predecessor Hugo Chávez, and a dubious computer-generated “recreation” of Venezuelan founding father Simón Bolívar, originally commissioned by Chávez in the early 2010s widely used by the socialist regime’s propaganda machine.
In the video, a Venezuelan official gifts a “combat club” to Maduro, who points out that the club features an image of his cartoon superhero alter ego Súper Bigote (“Super Mustache”).
In another video, filmed during a recent event of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Maduro called for the party’s unity in the face of “sectarianism” by singing a butchered version of “Querida,” one of the most iconic songs by the late Mexican singer Juan Gabriel.
“Dear friends, I say this with love, I say this with affection,” Maduro said before he started singing, stressing that the socialist party must be “broad and inclusive.”
“As President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the leading party of the Bolivarian Revolution, the lucid and historic vanguard, the heritage and legacy of Commander Chávez, I call for the defeat of sectarianism as one of the worst evils we have cultivated in our political practice,” he railed.
“We are not, have not been, and must not be a political sect. We must be a loving, unifying force that brings together all the patriots of Venezuela, all the Bolivarians of Venezuela, all those who want a free homeland, all those who defend nationality, Venezuelan identity,” the communist added.

More from Breitbart:
Maduro’s bizarre lyrical “performance” came hours after the dictator, in another unrelated official event on Monday, condemned the United States for its “rotten rehash of the extravagant, bizarre, and outlandish threats of imperialist supremacism against Venezuela.” In that same event, the dictator vaguely spoke about “betrayals” and “hidden and disguised cowards who are not able to tell me things to my face because they are cowards.”

As if Maduro’s singing and outright lies aren’t hilarious enough, on Tuesday, along with his Interior Minister and wanted alleged drug lord Diosdado Cabello, he asserted that Venezuela is a “bastion of sovereign peace in the face of empires.”
More communist drivel from Maduro was on tap, according to Breitbart:
The event introduced an expansion of the socialist regime’s so-called “Peace Quadrants” citizens’ security initiative for the capital city of Caracas. The Venezuelan regime accompanied the expansion with a new brief episode of Super Mustache, in which the dictator’s alter ego celebrates the initiative as a “new model of citizen control and popular intelligence.”
“We have merged Communal Circuits [local community groups loyal to the socialists] with Peace Quadrants, creating a territorial network of security, coexistence, and popular justice,” Maduro’s cartoon said in the episode. “This perfect union between the community and law enforcement allows us to move toward a model of citizen control and popular intelligence.”
“It is the organized people, together with our glorious Bolivarian National Armed Forces and our police forces, defending the peace, life, and dignity of Venezuela,” the cartoon continued. “Where there was once chaos, today there is organization — where violence, imperialism, and their lackeys wanted to impose themselves. Today, the peace built by the people flourishes.”
Maduro has long feared that the US would stomp on his dictatorship. He may just get his wish since he has been making obscene money off drugs that kill Americans while he starves his own people. It’s typical communist behavior and bluster.

President Trump is vowing to stop it, and the US, Latin America, and the world would be a better place if he did so.
