The PGA Tour announced its 2026 schedule on Tuesday, adding Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster course as a new signature event dubbed the Miami Championship.
The tournament will be played from April 30 through May 3 and comes with a $20 million purse. The Miami Championship will be the fifth of nine limited-field “signature events” on the Tour’s 2026 schedule.
“We’re excited to showcase the game’s greatest players competing at golf’s most iconic venues,” PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp told ESPN.
Trump National Doral has a rich history with the PGA Tour, hosting events annually from 1962 to 2016, a total of 55 tournaments.
The course, known as the “Blue Monster” for its challenging layout, was the site of the Doral Open and later the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. The last PGA Tour event was held at Doral in 2016, after which the tournament moved to Mexico due to the expiration of the sponsorship agreement with Cadillac and the inability to acquire a replacement title sponsor at the time.
“I just heard that the PGA Tour is taking their tournament out of Miami and moving it to Mexico, as an example,” Trump said at the time, back when he was the 2016 Republican nominee. “They’re moving it to Mexico City which, by the way, I hope they have kidnapping insurance. But they’re moving it to Mexico City.”
