Trump to sign executive order on mail-in ballots and voting machines

President Donald Trump says that he plans to make his move and make sure that the upcoming 2026 election is the most secure possible.

Recent information indicates that the president will be targeting mail-in ballots for starters, saying in a recent press conference that the election cannot be secure if there are mail-in ballots used for the process, as The New York Post reported.

Trump announced Monday that he will sign an executive order to eliminate both the mailed ballots and the “seriously controversial” voting machines.

This comes more than four years after the 2020 election, when Trump lost his first re-election campaign to former President Joe Biden, something he believes was unfair.

The president made his comments on his social media platform, Truth Social, doubling down on his disdain for mail-in ballots.

According to Trump, other nations with free and fair elections have abandoned using mail-in voting “because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED.”

“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly ‘Inaccurate,’ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election,” Trump said in his post.

What Happens Next

The president said that he believes this effort won’t be popular with those in the Democratic party, who he thinks have benefited from the less secure voting methods.

Trump is confident, however, saying he believes he can again restore “honesty” to the midterm election in 2026.

“WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections,” he added.

Recent Stats

In the 2024 election, which is when Trump won his second term in office, almost one-third of all ballots cast were submitted by mail, according to a June report.

Mail-in ballots were at a record high of 43% during the pandemic in 2020, but even four years later, seeing 30% of ballots coming from the mail is significant, and well above prepandemic levels.
