This clip is a few days old, and I will certainly acknowledge from the top that James Comer (R-KY01) has done nothing to suggest he is someone worth listening to. Well, at least, he had never struck me as someone who has anything intelligent to say about much of anything, so while the content of his speech is unlikely to teach us anything of value, the fact that he occupies one of 435 House seats, and worse, is Chair of the House Oversight Committee means that he is unfortunately a significant player in our government.
It is noteworthy that one, he endorses the use of troops in US cities, and two, that he does not understand what US military personnel are for. While I understand that US military forces have subdued and secured cities in various foreign lands over the years, including some level of patrolling said cities, they have not been “walking the streets trying to reduce crime.”
US military personnel are not trained in law enforcement, nor is their mission crime reduction.
Such notions are a disservice to service members, citizens, and those who actually do law enforcement and crime reduction professionally.
Meanwhile, Comer will get to yet again demonstrate his intellect and acumen later this week. Via The Hill: Comer says Justice Department will start sharing Epstein files this week.
No doubt we will get to the bottom of all of this forthwith.
