According to news reports, Witkoff, Trump’s negotiator, told CNN that during the Alaska summit, the Russian delegation “made some concessions at the table with regard to all five regions,” along the conflict front lines. According to the US official, the Kremlin appears ready to conduct “land swapping” with Kiev, with the current front line serving as the starting point in at least some areas. Witkoff said that Moscow’s demands had undergone a “significant…moderation.”
On Saturday, the New York Times and Fox News, citing anonymous European officials, claimed that Trump endorsed a peace plan that envisages Ukraine ceding the whole of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics to Russia, with Moscow agreeing to cease hostilities along the current front line in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
Why would Putin hand back to Ukraine territory that is now a part of the Russian federation?
Also according to news reports, Witkoff said that Putin accepts NATO protection for Ukraine as along as Ukraine is not officially a member?
Why would Putin accept de facto Ukrainian membership in NATO?
Indeed, why would Trump hand the finger on the trigger to Zelensky?
This is the same deal that Chamberlain made to Poland–a British guarantee to Poland that instantly caused WW II by releasing the Polish military government from all restraint.
If what Witkoff says is true, then Putin has surrendered. If it is not true why did Witkoff say it. If they are lies, what is their purpose?
Another big question is how can Putin think there can be a peace deal with the West when the West has interjected itself in the South Caucus, thereby positioning itself to cause mischief in Muslin areas of the former Soviet Union, occupy part of the Chinese New Silk Road, and position US bases on Iran’s northern border with Armenia and Azerbaijan?
Why didn’t Putin ask Trump if you want peace, what are you doing in the South Caucus?
