Inset: Yvette Thurston (City of Bainbridge Public Safety). Background: The Little Blessings Child Care facility at the Bainbridge Church of God in Decatur County, Ga., where a 1-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by day care worker Yvette Thurston (Google Maps).
A Georgia day care worker is facing child abuse and aggravated battery charges for a “horrific” attack on a 1-year-old boy — on his very first day — that left him cut, battered and bruised, according to his father and cops.
“This is every parents’ worst nightmare,” wrote Cory Weeks on Facebook on Thursday following the alleged beating at Little Blessings Child Care in Bainbridge. “This was his FIRST DAY!!!”

Police tell local CBS affiliate WCTV that surveillance video shows Yvette Thurston, 54, allegedly assaulting Weeks’ son. It’s unclear when the incident occurred, with Weeks and cops only revealing that it happened on the boy’s first day of care.
“This was a tragic event that occurred to an innocent child,” Weeks alleged. “Monday was DAY ONE of our two boys … attending Little Blessings (A CHURCH CHILDCARE FACILITY). I will not go into details regarding the incident at this time, instead I will allow the picture of our baby boy do the talking.”
Weeks has accused Thurston of not only attacking his son, but also — along with the day care center — of being dishonest when questioned about the incident. Attempts by Law&Crime to reach the facility, which is inside the Bainbridge Church of God in Decatur County, for comment were unsuccessful Monday.
Weeks said “questioning the incident was an inconvenience for the person in custody for the horrible acts she did,” as well as for a “pastor” who allegedly helps run the facility.
“We were told another child in [the victim’s] class did this type of damage with a plastic toy,” Weeks said on Facebook.
“This person is in custody due to the evidence through video surveillance that myself,” he alleged. “Nothing we saw was for the faint hearted, especially happening to such an innocent soul.”
Thurston faces charges of first-degree aggravated battery and three counts of first-degree child abuse. She was released on a $44,000 bond over the weekend, per WCTV.
“We trusted this facility to care and love our kids and on their FIRST DAY that was violated,” Weeks seethed. “There will be more coming from this and we will make sure nothing is ‘swept under the rug.'”
