American families worry about global war. The mainstream media? They’ve found the real scandal. And boy, is it a doozy. It’s not the hundreds of thousands dead in Eastern Europe. It’s not the risk of nuclear war. No, what really matters to our journalist class is something far more important—how we greet foreign leaders.
This week gave us a perfect look at why Americans don’t trust the media anymore. President Trump was working to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. You know, trying to save lives. But ABC News and CNN? They found their angle. They decided to freak out about something any normal person would ignore. Let that sink in.
From Daily Caller:
Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday scoffed at ABC News host Martha Raddatz’s attempt to grill President Donald Trump’s cordial greeting to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their peace talks…
“Critics of President Trump are always gonna find something to criticize, I don’t even pay attention to it anymore … When I hear people say that, ‘oh, it elevates him.’ Well, all we do is talk about Putin all the time! All the media’s done is talk about Putin all the time for last four, five years” Rubio said.
The controversy? President Trump rolled out a red carpet for Vladimir Putin during their peace summit in Alaska. That’s it. That’s the scandal. I’m not kidding. This is what passes for journalism now. While Trump did the hard work of ending a war, Martha Raddatz and her buddies were upset about standard diplomatic courtesy. CNN’s Abby Phillip claimed it “sent the wrong message.” ABC’s David Muir acted shocked that we’d welcome a foreign leader for peace talks. On American soil, no less!
Enter Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Finally, an adult in the room. When Raddatz tried her gotcha moment about the “pomp and circumstance,” Rubio shut it down perfectly.
A Voice of Reason
Here’s the kicker. Rubio had to explain something so basic it hurts. “You’re not going to have a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, you’re not going to end a war between Russia and Ukraine without dealing with Putin. That’s just common sense, I shouldn’t even have to say it.”
Think about that. Our Secretary of State has to explain to national news anchors that peace talks require talking to both sides. Both sides! This is where we are in 2025. We have to defend basic diplomacy to people who supposedly inform the public.
Can you imagine being Rubio in that moment? Having to explain that ending wars means talking to the bad guys too? My teenager understands this concept.
Meanwhile, Trump’s approach is already working. Putin and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy are reportedly getting ready to meet. Something that never happened under Biden’s strategy. You remember Biden’s strategy, right? Endless tough talk with zero results.
The real story here isn’t about a carpet. It’s about results. While the media obsesses over how things look, Trump is doing what he promised. He’s bringing peace through strength. He’s talking directly to world leaders. It’s the same thing Reagan did to end the Cold War. And guess what? The experts hated Reagan’s approach too.
Maybe that’s why the media focuses on carpets instead of what matters. If they admitted Trump’s diplomacy was working, they’d have to admit something else. They’d have to admit Biden’s approach failed. Biden’s mix of weakness and empty talk got us nowhere. Better to debate decorating choices than face that reality, right?
Key Takeaways
- Media obsessed over a red carpet while Trump negotiated historic peace talks
- Rubio demolished ABC’s criticism with simple common sense about diplomacy
- Trump’s direct engagement already producing results Biden never achieved
- Corporate media proves again they care more about optics than ending wars
